Wow, TMC seems to be a dream company... So what are the negatives? Also what about pets?

    And what's the Min age?

They do not allow pets in their tractors. They require their trucks to be washed every 2 weeks, and when you come in for service, your truck will be clean to their specifications, prior to leaving the terminal. If not, they will put you Out of service until it is clean. minimum age is 23, but they have made exceptions for people. We had a 22yr old just last week in my grad class. You are not allowed to make any modifications to the tractor at all, that includes changing their provided CB. The one they give is a Cobra 29 LTD. Its not great, and im told they are pretty much ####. TMC is a well oiled machine, they have flatbedding down to a science. Their load securement requirements surpass most companies and is far in excess of what the DOT requires. TMC is all about their image. Dont #### it up. Respect gets you a long way, and being honest and truthful when you screw up will get you even farther. If pulled in for a mess up, like hitting something, or loosing a load, be honest with the Safety manager. He knows more truth about the situation than you do. Basically, if you cant keep a clean house, with all your paperwork in reasonable order, no need to apply. They have some really high standards.

Rider policy is immediate family only, mom dad, grandma, grandpa, kids, step kids, spouse. Must be 10yrs old or older. Insurance paperwork must be filled out prior to the rider getting in the truck. Its a small fee, I THINK $1 a day, but not too sure tbh, and you must be in the truck for 90 days before they will allow it.

My son is thinking of going through a driving school to get his CDL and is interested in driving for TMC. How much does a new hire student make while in training with TMC? How long is the training period? What is the starting percentage that they make when they are done training?
    Thanks in advance!

Students make $500 a week gross while in training/orientation. Orientation is 2 weeks long, then he will go into his actual training which is 5 to 6 weeks, depending on how well he does and if his trainer is willing to let him go a week early. Once released to his own truck he will start at 26% or .42cpm, whichever he chooses. He will see that their percentage is 9 times of 10, always higher. He will be at 26% for his first snap shot which is usually at least 30 days, mine was 39. This time is to get him to understand how TMC works with their pay, and revenue to the truck.

Will he get home at all during the training process or should he figure to be out for the entire time of orientation and training?

They make it a point to get the trainees home at least once, of not more often. It really depends on how far away his trainer lives.

Just a quick question about the cb. I always run a radio, I feel naked without it. Am I allowed to carry a spare or buy a replacement on the road if something was to happen to the original one, even if its another 29 or same size radio that wouldn't require any modification to install.. What if I break a antenna, I'm sure they wouldn't want 2 monkey mades pointed straight out off the mirrors, but replace with a simple firestik or Francis.

nope, if the radio goes bad, go to one of the shops and swap it out.A lot of guys run their own CB, but they have to remove it when they go in for a pm cause they do an inspection on the truck if its changed, youll be put out of service till its changed back.
