Has anyone used this program recently? I am getting out in the next year and I am researching my options for this program between TMC and Schneider. I have talked to recruiters from both comapanies but I'd like to hear a drivers perspective. I already received a Bachelors degree and I cannot transfer the benefit to my kids. I did use the GI Bill to supplement tuition assistance so I could actually complete the degree on active duty. Now I am looking to burn off the remaining benefit because I earned it.

Im scheduled to go out to TMC next monday. Ive researched the program, and the way I understand it, you have to make less than a certain level of income before the benefits kick in. Was told it was 42,000 and below and you would see a check each month to supliment your income up to that level of 42000.

Again that was what I was told, other than that I havent a clue.

You could be right as it is a program to supplement the low pay people experience in the first year. I havent heard about the income level though. I was kinda hoping I could go out and do 40k-45k the first year then supplement it with the OJT program. From the GI bill website your supposed to get 100% housing allowance for 6 months and 80% for the next 6 months. That combined with my college fund kicker puts me at an extra 20k of tax free income if they dont have an income limitation.

Did you to talk to the VA Rep at TMC? The 9-11 GI bill is not income based. In my research it is $12xx.00 -13xx.00 per month for up to a year. In my case my 9-11 GI Bill will pay for my RoadMaster school then the remaining months, I will use at TMC till my benefits are used up. I only have 10 months benefit remaining. Roadmaster consumes 4 mos and 2 days according to the Roadmaster Va rep. I should have 6 months with TMC to supplement. Let us know how it works out for you. I hope to start Road master Aug 4 and TMC in Sept if I go with TMC. I am still considering Millis transfer as well.

I just talked to a normal recruiter. Roadmaster should only consume 1 month since it is only a 1 month program if its consuming more then that is BS. I get an additional $450 on top of the $1300 because of a program i got as an enlistment incentive. It pays a stipend on top of the GI bill amount

If you are unemployed the VA pays 1/2 of your training, the company the other half for 6 months I believe. Go for it and don't worry. TMC is the better company IMHO for ex military as they run it like a military outfit. Schneider pays you pretty low in order to recoup their training exp and if you quit in the first year you have to pay it all back. Both run good equipment and have dedicated runs. My bro was on a Pa to Brownsville for a year and he liked Schneiders terminals. Safe, quiet and clean with some good food.

Gunner, I think you may be from a school I visited, lol. FULL DISCLOSURE WARNING: I am a former driver turned field recruiter for TMC.

With the VA program there are differing amounts you can receive and they may be unique from one veteran to the next. If anybody interested in MC would like to email me andrew.richter@tmctrans.com I can forward details on what the program looks like in detail. Its been 20 years since I got out of the Corps and I was not able to use it but we do have people who can help guide you at orientation.

Hope that helps. The other notes are pretty accurate thus far. We are not "military like" (more urban legend than reality) but our drivers enjoy the benefits of having high standards and the corresponding high rewards. They are applied throughout TMC. It means your truck will be serviced right when needed, that your paychecks will be accurate and on time, that your coworkers are competent and willing to lend a hand when needed...in other words: the company is not run shabbily just barely staying legal; we are professional.

Who ever you may be "Gunner", good luck at orientation and enjoy it. The first year I drove for TMC was full of hard work, great income and experiences I'll never forget. Hope the same comes your way.

TMC is on my short list once I get out next year which can be anywhere between January and August. My goal is to be an owner operator but TMC doesn't have a whole lot of info on it. The most I could find is one driver saying he netted an average of 2500 a week as a TMC O/O
