Ok I have been researching the mess out of who I want to start out with. My wife has taken a job in north east NC about 30 miles south of Chesapeake, Va so I have to start all over. Everything I have done on TMC was done in OH which from what everyone has said was a very good area to drive for them so is it the same out in eastern NC/VA? I'm going to go to a local school for the training as I don't want to be attached to a company for the training. TMC has nice equipment, pretty good pay for starting out, and home time. Is there anyone in this area that can help me out? Is there anyone that may have a better company in this area? Thanks in advance.

Bud, most trucking company's are the same.. ALL training companies are the same... that being said throw a dart and pick your job 100% chance on landing the job... Don't let TMC lure you in with there "black & crome" BS and home weekends.... trucking is very exhausting "home weekends" is better spent taking your restart at a truck stop instead of going home for a VERY short time. if you look at it right they are just giving you your restart near your home because all you have time to do is unload your truck drive home shower sleep load back up and drive back to the truck that will be a common home time exp with them if you even get your weekend with them...

Good Luck to you tho im not a disgruntled driver FYI but one advise i can tell you get your exp and bounce doesn't matter were you get the exp. most doors open in about 4 months, 12 months for some of the better ones.

The negativity is with this one.

If you want research check out my tmc experience thread. I'm straight into the industry as a newbie. I won't sugar coat #### and I won't bee all negative either. I come from a trucking family, everyone close to me has either pulled od, bumped a dock, strapped and tarped, or had a refer load go bad. So far tmc sounds like one of those that are too good to be true companies, I even almost turned them down A's went to millis transfer. I decided to take a chance with tmc after speaking with a couple of other recruiters. I've been TRYING to find a way to tell tmc that they lied to me, it just hasn't happened yet. Yes I'm still in training, and yes I still have a long way to go and a Hell of a lot to learn. But it says something to new when a company actually cars about their image and does something to make it stay clean. They want their trucks taken care of, they will fix issues when they pop up, and they will pay you good. This week my trainers truck has made a total for $5321 for pulling a total of 5 loads, with less than 2000 miles total. As a starting driver you start at 26% of each load, our at .35cpm. Now you do the math.

TMC pays their drivers based on performance not tenure. You'll be on the same pedestal as a driver who's been there 20 yrs, they give you the training, the equipment, and hands you the keys, tell you to get the load there. Average length of haul is around 400 miles,

I've barely even worked this week, I've driven more than my trainer because I want to. I'm doing all I can to find a ##### in the armor of their story and I just can't do it.

If you decide to go with tmc, honesty and integrity goes a long way with them, don't lie about anything, they will find it. You won't have to deal with nearly the ######## like they do at swift, our Werner, or any other mega carrier.

Thanks for the replies. Gunner I have read your thread and like the no bs. I have talked with Dawn a couple times and she wanted my to submit my app even before I move and start school, I believe a prequalify screening, work experience, history and back ground shouldn't be a problem.

    Gunner75 Thanks this.

I haul steel in Ohio, and run with a lot of TMC guys. They all have been with them for a long time, one I believe has in like 26 or 30 years. I can tell you I see a lot of different companies and all of the TMC guys seem a lot happier than the others. Just my two cents. Good luck.

I live in NC and it's a good area. My trainer lives in NC as we'll and can get home every weekend if he wants but likes to stay out two weeks. Pay is good they gave you a chart to track percentage vs Milage and so far percentage beat it out on all five loads this week but one. Equipment is good but heard some new guys get beat up 379s with 850k plus miles. But they'll all be phased out soon so not that big of an issue. I'm going to request a 388 since I probably won't get a 579. Mcellroy is big in nc so that's an option if I didn't go with tmc I would of went with Jordan Carriers but so far no major complaints with tmc. I plan on staying here awhile.
