You should know by what other drivers say around Des Moines. If they fire kids for stepping on the grass, do you think they'll risk you beating the hell out of their trucks for two more weeks while you get ready to leave? Do you think they want you wasting their fuel, tearing up their drive trains, being late to shippers or receivers cause you just don't care about the job anymore? Just cause you're honest, doesn't mean others before you were as well. They have to cover their ### as well. I left for deployment in October, I drove until the day I left because I knew if I out in two weeks, I'd be sitting with my thumbs up my behind, probably drinking away my money till I left. I'm not dumb, I know how they work. You've been there two and a half years, you should know that as well. They have plenty of people to put in their trucks who WANT. To be there. You didn't, so they freed it up for the next guy. Simple as that. It's the same as if I go to annual training for two weeks, they have me clean out the truck and come back in two weeks to get a new one. They'd rather the truck be making money than not.

I hear you Battle Born, I guess I didn't think that thru, oh well. See no other job I ever worked for treats their workers like this. So I am not used to this. I drove for Prime as well before this and they didn't do things like that. Just glad to be out of this hell hole , these people make me sick

I'm not saying I think it's a good thing. I definitely feel for you, it's just how they work. Even if they put you in Des Moines or somewhere working for that two weeks would be better than just dropping you. I just think they don't want any schinanigans or whatnot.

Yeah I'd blame them too. True they do get screwed I bet but to assume everyone is dishonest and going to abandon their trucks or worse is crappy. Its sounds like you were good to them but they didn't return it. They should at least inform people that 2 week notice is not required.

When I left TMC it seemed there was as many going out as coming in as the Indy yard was packed with trucks. I was the thrid that day to turn in his truck and the tenth one that week. So it is bit of a revolving door. They get a cheap naive driver for a bit and the driver gets the needed experience to move on to other places. I left after 6 months, doing local work now and loving it. Good luck to you in your local gig.

I would like to see what they require for notice from an employee that is going to terminate employment. That is usually spelled out in the employee handbook. They should match what they require with what an employee is supposed to do.

Lets hear what their requirement is from their employees.

Us Xpress did the same thing to me. After having the orientation scheduled for over a month they waited for the last minute to tell me that they couldn't verify my employment history with a company I worked for 2 years ago. Come to find out I called the HR director and I was told that US Xpress never called to inquire about my employment history.

At the end of the day......there is no such thing as a "good company to drive for" that runs elogs, has an orientation, drivers managers and runs 62 mph or less trucks....to me they are all the same....

If the company has recruiters and a human resources dept. Or a school.....run as fast and as far away from that company as you can.

so Edmund you make .42 cpm correct? you need to run 3000 miles to gross 1260 correct?? to me your theory about running all the miles you can get kinda sounds like you went to prime inc. don't they teach yall miles miles miles?? really bad way to make money. I pull flatbed I get 78% of the load. I hauled a pump jack from good year Az, it weight was 29,000lbs this load paid gross 3657.00 I get 78% of that so my part was 2852.46 now from good year to midland was about 700 give or take a mile. now that's right at 4 dollors a mile. work smart not hard..... THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've never worked for prime....I drive for Jana Express .42 cents a mile in a 75 mph pete. I'm averaging well over 700 miles a day and if I stay out for two three weeks do the math on what that equates to paycheck wise.....I pull reefer I don't have to worry about load securement, tapping in ice cold weather, being overweight on axle and I'm running paper logs.....I could never nor would ever even conceive of the idea of pulling for prime or any company like them....nor do I pay for fuel, truck payment cargo liability, fuel tax highway tax ,tolls....absolutely nothing but food in my belly.
