You might be happier at System or Maverick. Have you looked at them for flatbedding?

Sorry never worked for a bottom rung mega carrier and I never will. If they were so great they wouldn't need to march people through training daily.

How in the #### is TMC a mega? They have less than 3000 trucks. You call them a mega because you managed to get a streak of luck and get your CDL on your own, and beat the dirt to find someone and then beg them to give you a chance at your local job. Not everyone has that luxury, and frankly its a god #### shame you would look down on those of us who dont have that luxury. You and every other individual who think like you is exactly what is wrong with this industry. I looked into all my options and tried to do as you suggested. I tried getting my CDL on my own, I ended up having to go through a community college sponsored school paid for using my GI Bill benefits. I couldnt find anyone to loan me their truck to get the experience needed for the test, let alone had the money to rent one, oh and lets not forget getting private instruction. prior to going with TMC, I visited several local companies here and put in my application. I stopped in and spoke with several owner operators that had trucks sitting, all of them same ####### attitude, "Sorry cant help you, you need at least 6 months". I hit up over 2 dozen places, from Pepsi, to Coke, Old Dominion, christ even Estes said they had no need for someone in my area, and I wasnt about to drive 75 miles one way to their closest terminal.

So I say to you and your elitist attitude, #### you.

MJ didn't have a "streak of luck". He made good choices. There's a difference.

    So "less than 3,000 trucks isn't a mega"?? Yeah....OK.

You really need to lighten up............there's a lot of us out here either in our own trucks or driving for little carriers that have got this figured out.......it ain't all about Qualcomms and employee numbers.

Today is one of those days where negativity like from people such as above, just get under my skin. I can take a joke. But the negativity from ######## like him is just too much. It is what drives people away from making choices.

Its true they don't hire just anyone. My orientation class was something like 45 people. Less than 20 of us made it through to the end of orientation. But I do believe that as many come in there is almost as many going out, either fired of quitting.

Fine he made good choices, I guess I made bad choices because I went to a college sponsored program, and used my GI Bill to get my school? I guess being that im already clearing more than double what I made at my previous job in less than a month solo is a bad choice? I wouldnt classify them as a mega. Simply because they cant haul the capacity of the freight that others like JB Hunt, Swift, Schneider, or Werner. Yeah when compared to the greater majoriety of the industry they are huge.

And personally I like my qualcomm. Takes all the possible mistakes out of it. I run how I want, I take my breaks when I want. And guess what? I dont have the stress of what could happen if the DOT man pulls me over and I dont have my logs right.

You'll find a reason when you hear about jobs where you can gross close to six figures, specially running a skateboard. TMC is just a bottom feeder with nicely spec'd trucks, that's it. I love how their pay hasn't changed in almost 5 years, shows how the OTR companies value their drivers' ever changing standard of living.

    Jumbo and MJ1657 Thank this.
