So I got off the phone with a TMC recruiter today and he told me that a driver straight out of school makes about $52,000 a year. That sounds high for a new driver. I talked to a driver that's been driving for 15 years and he said he only made $47,000 last year...what's typical pay for new driver?

If a recruiters mouth is moving there is a 95% chance he is lying.

OK, first off a disclaimer. Don't know much about TMC. But I DO know about recruiters. Is he telling you the truth? Doubtful. A lot of outfits pay their recruiters by the number of warm bodies they get to the orientation.

    Shaggy Thanks this.

I figured they would lie...Schneiders recruiter told me a range that sounds more realistic. ..they told me between 34,000 and 38,000

Of course not. There is a lot of seats to fill and few drivers out here.

Here is some good advice for you. You can take it or leave it. If a company needs to have recruiters in order to attract drivers, STAY AWAY! Think about it. If the company was that good, would they really need recruiters? The answer is obvious!

TMC and Maverick have better then average reputations as starter companies
after a year better opportunities and a clean nose things get much better
starter pay in flatbed is higher then reefer and dry van
