Considering TMC and Maverick, just want some insight on them. What would be a better choice Maverick glass divison with is 2 weeks out & .40cpm or TMC percentage pay and potential home weekly? Is TMC really home weekly living in NC near Burlington

Well Mavericks truck are automatic trannys. TMC trucks are manual and pretty awesome. If your first company is an all auto fleet., might be difficult going to a company with manual trannys because your experience is in automatic tranny trucks.

You should be getting 7-9 after taxes IMO to make flatbedding worth it, a lot of guys can do that driving vans and do a lot less work. I went through orientation with tmc and even though they bounced me I cant really say anything bad about them. But if you live in the south it would be a lot easier to get to little rock than to TMC's orientation way up north Lwood. Also keep this in mind a l lot of the maverick trucks have apu's none of the TMC trucks will. But there is the allure of the peterbilt and getting shifting experience......and they have a pool in their hotel haha

I make more than 7-9 (more like 9-11) a week and am home every weekend, and am on a regional dedicated route. You don't need an APU when TMC allows you to idle your truck to keep warm or cool. The new 579's have a heater that you can run without idling. The 379's are 13 speeds and the 579's and 388's are 9 speeds. There is nothing wrong with Maverick, you will be driving alot more for the same you would make on % with TMC. TMC does have a mileage pay option that they just revamped that makes it equal to the same pay as Maverick if that is how you want to run. TMC will provide transportation to and from orientation, so no need to worry about that. I would talk to a recruiter from both TMC and Maverick, that is what I did and I chose TMC and am happy, and I live right down the road from Maverick. Everything they told me has come to pass, no smoke and mirrors. Good thing is is that you have choices, every company is hiring drivers right now, there is more freight than trucks on the road. Here at TMC, be prepared to WORK, no lazy bums with sweat pants and flip flops. TMC is huge on image, not only with the trucks, but with the drivers as well, they are very picky on who they hire so be prepared for some hurt feelings. They have the best training program, second to none. You will come out of the training process prepared to do the job on your own. They are taking the 379's off the road as fast as they can get them prepped for the sale lot, so expect to be in a 579 soon after you start.

Thank man for the insight! Yea I'm leaning towards TMC, is it hard to get home every weekend & about how long do you stay home? Yea I don't mind working long as the reward is good, I have a good record what would be some tips going into orientation. And is there a significant slow down in freight during the winter

When it comes to idling , im sure drivers are more concerned about the are they are driving in regulating than the company they are working for.
Lwood- you know about the test to lift the different tarps right , not saying youd have a problem with either but its good to be prepared, and being ready to climb onto the bed from the side. A couple more positive coins for tmc youd get shifting experience and youd get to experience % pay , but if you go there looooong bus ride form the south and stay off the grass. And dont believe the crap about it being like boot camp , I just took that as be neat and dont trash your room.
