Thanks ahead of time for any and all feedback. As I prepare for driving school in 2015 I have been searching info on a few companies I may be interested in and one is TMC. I live in South Carolina and from looking I can't determine if TMC has a terminal anymore in Gaston,SC(Columbia) or not? If they do can I do my orientation/training there or do I have to travel to Iowa for that? Do I have to get my cdl here first then go to them for training?
Thanks for any light shed on this, I may be stupid but it didn't seem clear looking at the web site or forums. Going that far out of state will be a factor in my picking a company. I have a company in the next county over from me(Greatwide Freight) that will hire a newbie and train at that terminal so driving back and forth is easy for me, but would not have a problem driving the 2 hrs to Columbia for training either just not Iowa... Thanks all!

First thing I would say is call them to get information right from them.
TMC has been to my school a few times but because I cannot drive across state lines, medical reason, I did not pay too much attention to the recruiter on where orientation was but I want to say Iowa. I also want to say like most Co.’s do they pay for travel out to them.
I don’t think they have a training program to get your CDL like some have you have to have a CDL license first. They do train you on their way how to do the flat bed securement & trapping.
I don’t know where their terminals are but for home time I did not think it made any difference?

For a flatbed Co. TMC looked pretty good with nice looking fully loaded (APU’s, fridge, etc.) trucks they say they put your name on the door when you get a truck. If I remember right as an employ you own a piece of the Co. so if they did good you got something back too.

That is what I remember and some of it could be wrong so best to give them a call. I may have recruiters number if you want it.
    Good luck

ps I don't have a name just their 800 247 2862 number, must have been on the one I handed back sorry

There is a terminal in Gaston, however all orientation classes/training is held in DesMoines. Once through driver training you very well could get sent to Gaston to test out. Its really up to the training dept and their needs. Check out my TMC Experience thread if you need more information on orientation and want not.

Yeah all this is kind of what I thought. Fuzz face 2, thanks for the # I will call and talk with someone. Just need to hear from everyday drivers not as much from a recruiter and Im not saying a recruiter will steer me wrong its just they may sugar coat it some.

I'm still undecided about what company so far. I may do a little more research on TMC but have a few other in mind that's more local for me as well.
