How do those TMC trucks stay so clean and shiny?

TMC requires a truck wash every 2 weeks, you can wash it weekly if you want. TMC pays for it and you don't have to pay out of pocket for it unless you go to a truck wash that is not on our list, you'll need to be approved to get your money back. They do give you all the supplies you'll need to clean the interior. It is your mess, no one cleans it for you. You do not have to polish the chrome, its your choice if you want to polish it or not. I don't know of anyone being fired for not cleaning your truck but if you don't keep it clean it costs you money. 5 points on your percentage score.

 

Wow 5 points is a lot. I couldn't see an issue with washing a truck twice a week. Same with keeping the inside clean.

 

5 points is not 5 percent. There is an accumulation of points every month to determine your pay percentage. 190 points is required to achieve the top tier of 32%. The points gap from one pay rate to the next is 30 pts in the lower percentages 20 in the middle and 10 pts in the harder to achieve higher percentages.The 5 points for appearance would only be capable of dropping you 1% which can still be a significant ding to your paycheck. If the truck grossed $4000 on a particular week 1% costs you $40. That turns into $160 per month. Ill keep it clean for $160. It really isn't a big deal if you keep the truck clean as you go. If you are waiting at a shipper wipe down the dash. Next time do the doors and so on. It only takes a few minutes. Don't let your shoes leave the floor mat, and NEVER let them touch the carpet in the sleeper! I keep an extra mat between the seats for those times I need to quickly reach into the sleeper. I also keep a mini shop vac which will run off of inverter power.

I think keeping a clean vehicle represents not only the company but the driver. Id rather have the option of going through the wash once every week or every two weeks than riding around with a dirty truck. No different than working in L.E. where your units were inspected weekly. I see it as a benefit.
