Hello everyone this is my 1st post and 1st trucking job. Just graduated earlier this month and decided to go with TMC. I've read about many trucking companies and read even more reviews. I'd like to post here with my experiences with the company and ask questions as well. Today is my 1st day of orientation so at the end of the week I'll update how my time went here.

I do have a question though, I have the option to get paid by the mile or by percentage. I've heard mixed reviews about percentage pay, bad reviews on the net but good in person. So with TMC which would be best for a new driver?

Unless they can give you some sort of an idea of the miles , I would opt for the % pay.

The TMC drivers I have talked to have all said they would suggest % over per mile.

Its a long read but check out the thread "My TMC experience" by Gunner75. There is a ton of good info in there.
I have been with TMC for about 6 months now. I opted for % insted of CPM. You will have some loads where % pays more and others where CPM pays more. I believe % works out better in the long run.

Something to consider is the starting rate of 26% is only temporary. Work hard and you will be rewarded. TMC bases % pay on performance. My first snapshot after a couple of months bumped me to 31%. The following month I had a breakdown which killed my revenue and set me back to 29%. Since then things have been going well and I am climbing back up and expect to hit 32% soon.

Not everyone sees those numbers. You have to be willing to take your 14 hour clock and burn it to the ground every day. You will have to stay out some weeks and not go home. You will have to manage your clock and not show a singe minute of on duty time that isn't absolutely required. You will have to hustle while securing your loads and again when folding your tarps and stowing your gear. You'll be tired and dirty.

Average performance will get you an average paycheck. If you bust your arse you will be very well compensated.

Whatever you do, do it safely. NEVER compromise yourself or or the family in the car next to you.

    Best of luck!
