The yard maneuvers intimidate me, as in my "school" if you can call it that, they did not teach parrallel, or anything other than a 90 degree drivers side dock. Would be great if there was a place to voice frustration over that school, nothin more than a swift-house ya realize.. Taught to state standards, nothing more. "take out the cone, it's only a point" type ***t No offense swift drivers.

TMC gives very good directions for doing all of the yard maneuvers. You are also required to get out and look every four feet at the beginning. They teach you as if you have not done it exactly that way before because every state has different standards and maneuvers. If you need more work on some of them you will get more time. Mostly they want to see that you don't get frustrated and give up in an unfamilar situation. They want to see how you do under pressure. Believe it or not there may not be someone to set up cones exactly that way when you need to park somewhere.

Rawlco, you're ruining my visions of being a driver? I don't get a cone monkey standard with the truck? I give up an APU and a cone monkey? Forget it, McD's here I come! I totally understand the lack of cones being on delivery sites. I just was hoping that they didn't expect you to come in and side slide a truck into a parrallel parking your first day. I can do these things, however I know my limits!

Hey guys, I'm starting orientation with TMC this Monday in Columbia, I have been reading this board for quite some time trying to make a decision where to start and just want to give a special thanks to Rawlco and the rest of the TMC experienced drivers that have been posting in this forum about all different topics. After hours upon hours of research reading posts until my eyes crossed I have to say that the information all you guys give is priceless to us newbies and it is greatly appreciated!! THANKS AGAIN, looking forward to joining the TMC team.

This post just cracks me up! It's good to see you have a sense of humor about this industry!

I wasn't aware they changed hotels. Has to be better than the Micro-Hell. Make sure you fill out everything in the packet you get at check in. Bring phone numbers and addresses. You will fill out another application. Like was said ealier, you will do alot of writing the first couple of days. Also a drug test on day 1. Not just a little cup test. Sent to a lab type test. We lost three to the test. Written tests out the wazoo also. Pay attention, read, and study and you will not have a problem.
