I am sure they will. I want to send special thanks out to rowcal and the others for posting such wonderful info and keeping a proffesional tone to the threads. EVERY company out there has made someone mad and can have bad feedback but tmc looks great and i am happy to have a chance to work with some proffesionals

hey fella's ,

thought id join in on the conversations again....just finished up my second week with my trainer and its going really good. The only bad thing is freight is REALLY bad right now so don't be suprised if you get your trainer and you guys get laid over for a day or wait and couple extra hours for the next load. We were laid over for a day the first week and this week only dropped two loads. I hope Obama starts doing his job soon and get us out of this S@#% hole.

I have a quick question if anyone might have an idea. Just got off the phone with TMC and everything is set to go for me on Monday to start class. They said this maybe one of the biggest classes yet, 29 students in the S.C. class. Will that mean it will take longer to get a trainer? I'd really like to head right out after class is finished with.

tumbleweed,

My advice would be to do the absolute best you can with every test they give you. Our instructors told us it didn't matter what rank you came in at the end of the training, but the fact of the matter was that the guy who obviously didn't do as good as everyone else was complaining that friday that he still didn't have a trainer....so like I said excell at everything!! and have fun.

later

Thanks Rebel for the heads up. Working hard won't be a problem, I'll give it my best. I just hope that there is enough trainers to go around since this is going to be one of their biggest classes ever.

Maybe thats why I haven't received a phone call back yet from my recruiter, cause they have a full classes. Hopefully I hear something next week and it was just because it being a holiday week.

Good luck to those starting class Monday. Keep updating if possible.

In my two years with TMC I have averaged just about $1,000 per week for every week worked since the end of training. Now that is before taxes and other deductions. Now I have had good weeks and bad weeks, good months and bad months. From Jan to Mar of 2008 I only averaged about 650 per week between the slow freight and the weather delays. One paycheck was a measly $91 as I took Monday off at home empty and picked up a load Tuesday to deliver Wednesday but the business was closed until Thursday due to weather. The shipper was slow loading Thursday due to the same weather (indoor forklifts on an icy parking lot aren't very useful ) And I was about a ton overweight so I had to return to the shipper Friday to get my load reduced and make delivery on Monday.

Tumbleweed,
The worst thing that will happen if they don't have enough trainers is that TMC will send you home in a car that they rent with fuel that they will reimburse you for and you will enjoy a week at home being paid $350 to call in every day until they have a trainer for you. That is the easiest money you will ever get from TMC.

In my experience waiting a couple of hours for a load asignment occurs quite frequently. Especially on holiday weeks while people put together a puzzle that gets most people home. The problem is that the puzzle does not always include all the right pieces or even the right number of pieces, and you don't have a picture on the front of the box to go by. I almost think they have more stress than a wall street broker.

Put those waits to good use by getting in some extra backing practice or going over something else with your trainer.

FirNaTine,
Dealing with recruiting is an art form. You need to walk the fine line between desiring the job and desperation about needing a job. You need to show persistence that you will get the job done, but also patience towards slow moving parts of the company. If you never call back they will assume you aren't interested in the job, If you call every hour they may turn you down just because you bother them. So sometime on Monday call your recruiter and politely ask about your application status. Before hanging up ask them when you should call again, or if e-mail might be a better choice to communicate. Thank them for their time as their phone rings constantly.

Good luck.
