I know with the economy being bad and all it be hard to get more tarp pay, but $10 to tarp is low. I went to a place last week to load wall board and you have to drop the trailer and they take it in and also tarp it for you. They charge companies $45 to tarp it with 2 lumber tarps. BTW they suck at tarping, lol. I think I could have done a better job. I had to sign a agreement to pay, I called my FM first to confirm it and he said yes TMC pays for it. I asked him why we only get $10 then, he said he didn't know.

Also heard rumor that 800 drivers got laid off from TMC, mostly guys high up on the percentage scale.

I had these same questions about tarp pay. It was explained to me that tarp pay is included into the rate the customer pays. Not all customers pay tarp fees. Be happy that TMC pays you anything at all because it is already included into what the load pays you.

It is BS today, just like it was back then.

The rumor about 800 drivers getting laid off (fired) because their percentage is higher is just a rumor. If true, what is the incentive to doing your job better? You can't do your job too badly, or you will be fired. This is great incentive to being mediocre. Maybe the best strategy is to go to mileage pay. Maybe you won't be making the high percentages that were possible in the past, but at least your job will be, somewhat, secure.

I agree, the tarp pay is an embarassment. Some loads are a breeze to tarp, some loads look out. No way they let 800 drivers go, that's a third of their entire fleet. I know they let a bunch more go last week, but not that many. I wish there were some kind of bulletin board that could keep drivers posted and the rumor mill idle. FirNa are you talking about the USG yard down in southern IN by chance?

I think it was USG but in Aliquippa PA. First time I loaded for wall board other than Lafarge.

They let me go a while back from a dedicated account. They never fought my unemployment, though, never said i broke any rules or any of that which i thought for sure they were going to do.

Did they hit your DAC up? I'm glad to hear you are able to pull UE though.

I called a recruiter friend of mine that i had been talking to over at BTi, she has friends that work in the offices at TMC and no nothing was on my DAC at the time. It was about 3 weeks later. I'm not really concerned with it, to be honest.. Not interested in going back to driving right now anyway.

Too much useless bull crap involved in it, no matter how you look at it. All it takes is one dumb drunk b$%## to jerk her wheel across 3 lanes of traffic and slam into your front end to screw everything up, not worth it.

    "YOU SHOULD HAVE SEEN HER"

lol I still have a feeling this has something to do with it, but as of right now nothing to prove that. We'll see, maybe i'll get around to getting my copy eventually.
