Actually AC is mandatory depending on what state you are in.

I wasn't aware there is a separate hot water valve for the sleeper. I should be able to fix it myself. point still stands, things are going downhill.

How long have you worked for TMC? I start Monday.. Gives me a pit in my stomach when I hear these types of comments but still seems one of the better companies to get your training from if you have no class a experience.

However, I will say this economy has drastically effected ALL industries and the ones that will survive have to look very hard at every penny spent. They have to cut perks, benefits (spiraling out of control), pay and anything and anyone that does not produce. That's smart business in any industry. The only thing that should not be sacrificed is safety for drivers.

But when companies fail to communicate and fail to keep employees in the loop during tough times, it sure seems like and feels like the bottom is falling out. I hope that is not or will not be the case with TMC.

Blessings and stay safe out there....

Maybe yes maybe no, nobody really knows, a company can be here today and gone tomorrow without any warning. Remember they get a lot of low cost drivers that way, First they are out 5 weeks with a trainer at $300 a week and some driver/trainer are run like teams almost. Then when the new driver gets out on his own its base mileage or percentage pay rather than what a veteran driver would get for at least 6 months to a year I would assume. Thats the deal, they get lower cost for moving freight and the newbie driver gets the needed experience. So its in their best interest to keep the driver training open and with them pissing off some veteran drivers causing them to quit, well money saved there too.

I'll have to get back to you on this tomorrow, I just spent an hour trying to navigate the state commercial vehicle code and the safety inspection requirements were nowhere to be found. I'll ask around at work tomorrow, if nothing else I can call the union hall and find out where to look. I'm certain I read about this three years ago when the change was about to come into play here. At any rate, I'll try and find the code and figure out one way or the other for sure tomorrow.

Sleeper heat isn't that big of a deal. I owned my own truck for a while sans sleeper heater working. Open a vent in the sleeper, put the front heat on fresh air and go to sleep. The heat from the front will push into the sleeper. I like it cooler for sleeping any way.
I had a mid 90's Volvo that I did that with. The cab heater was more than enough to keep the whole truck warm.
