I have prior experience but it has been since feb of 05 since I drove a Tractor trailer. I did go take a CDL refresher course at a local college so I have my CDL class A again. My question is since I'm considered a newbie again because of the gap, will Transport America hire me as a newbie with prior experience? Any responses would be helpful, thanks.

they may take you on. I recently got approved with them and I too have a large gap between driving times. It never hurts to give them a call

They might, they might not. I've got a three year gap, and TA needs me to have at least two months recent before they can take me. Not sure I'm gonna go, though. I think I'll enjoy flatbed enough to stay with it, rather than going back to van. Good company, though.

Hey brsims, they dont do orientation in North Jackson anymore, Just in Atlanta, KC, and Ft. Wayne.
-
Yeah, I heard about that from Susan in recruiting. She also told me TA hasn't been taking new students for awhile.
But hey, it's been so long since I drove for them that I did my orientation in Scottsburg, IN. -
I left a few days after you responded to my very first post. Last day was 1/4/2011. I came home and thought I had 2 or 3 solid plans for employment outside of trucking and actually making good money.....they all fell thru! I called TA and they gave me the OK to come back if I want. I will answer them by Friday.
