Their yard is right down the road from me. Every Time I drive past the place there is a lot of unloading going on. (Drivers unloading personal belongings) I thought I'd give em a try once. I quit in like 2 days, took em 4 more to get me close enough to the house to just say FI and drive home and (Unload) The truck they gave me had a broken QC and it was sending me messages meant for another driver, it drove me nuts. Then they were dispatching me after 3 hrs sleep, and saying I HAD to go the QC shows I rested 10 Hours, (It was obviously broke) SO when they dispatched me on my 3rd Illegal run, I said UNCLE! Then they sent me an email that said they discover SAT was sending wrong info. (What they never look at what I was entering and telling them via phone?) I had it in the shop 2nd day for Sat problem and they said IDOKNOW? Reset it and go! That cleared the other driver, but not the real problem with it. I even called the Home Terminal manager about it. No answers. So with CVSA 2010 around the corner, it was time to say goodbye. They gave me all my money though. But I would never work there again. Every bad thing in this thread I agree with. I have over 2 million safe miles and they treated me like I just got out of school yesterday.

Someone working there now, may be thinking bonus for referral if he can get it, so, take those comments with a grain of salt. I have nothing to gain by downing them. They don't advertise locally as every CDL driver here knows their game.

Many tricks in Orientation too. When it was in Indiana anyways, heard they have a new bag of tricks now.

ms1700......People will figure this out, Drivers don't last with this company...ave. driver 6 months tops!!!!

    Warren Buffet:

Recently, Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRK.A) disclosed its 10.9% stake in Burlington Northern Santa Fe (NYSE: BNI) worth US$3.4 billion. To no one’s surprise, investors around the globe jumped on the Warren Buffett express. Burlington’s share price rose 6.5% on the announcement.

And Buffett didn’t stop there. Berkshire Hathaway confirmed it has also acquired stakes in two remaining North American railroads. The largest American railroads remaining are Union Pacific (NYSE: UNP), CSX (NYSE: CSX) and Norfolk Southern (NYSE: NSC). Our neighbors to the north offer Canadian National [TSE: CNR].
No one really knows why Warren Buffett fell in love with railroad investing all of a sudden. Burlington certainly carries Buffett-like characteristics: consistent earnings growth (22% annualised over five years), impressive margins and limited competition.
But none of these railroads typify your typical Benjamin Graham value play. The stock trades for more than three times book with limited liquidity and tangible debt.
So what was Warren Buffett thinking that drove Berkshire Hathaway onto the rails?
It’s anyone’s guess. But the prevailing consensus believes globalisation - specifically, moving the major staples of trade (things like coal, oil, cars and clothes - in other words, basic commodities and finished goods) from producer to consumer - is the long-term trend at play here.

I now understand what my Great Uncle was saying when he stated that the trucking industry is going to hell in a hand basket!!!!!

People like Warren Buffet is slowly putting companies like this one out of business and this company knows it!!!! This company is just surviving on the backs of it's drivers, (company and O/O's)!!!

They ran you Illegal in total disregards of what you had to say concerning your broken Qualcomm then later after your 3 or 4 illegal runs that I'm sure will be off the books, they determined your Qualcomm was broken!!! Put your life at risked but they got their needed money, I'm sure 100 others probably had broken Qualcomms as well and their life was put at risked as well!!!

This company bankrolled money to be hidden off the books at your expense!!!!

My husband didn't get the miles he was promised either and never once turned down a job. Everything that was sent his way, he took and still received low miles which was definetely not what he was promised!

From the TA drivers I have spoken to recently, they all say you have a better chance at a steady income if you get on a dedicated account and NOT run system. Ta has no great paying positions, but they can sometimes get you a great week. Sound familiar?

I am making a change in employment ASAP. I found out why Heartland Express sucks so bad!!! They DO NOT PAY DRIVERS FOR LOCAL/CITY LOADS!!! NOT AT ALL!!! Unbelievable.

I was looking at them because they USED TO HAVE A GOOD REPUTATION. Not now. I used to work for Crete when we had a good company, but not now.

Big companies are getting worse. Look for a small to medium company with a dedicated product line or customer base.

How long do you have to be with them to get on one of those routes. We live in southern Colorado, he's in his last week with the coach and going to be based out of Rockwall.

It all depends on how good a driver you are... if you can really prove yourself you can be on dedicated within a couple of months. There's no real set amount of time that you have to be there before they'll put you on dedicated. Make sure you constantly remind them that your goal is to get on a dedicated board. There are always openings on dedicated runs.

The problem with Transport America right now is they are so desperate to increase their seated count they'll hire anyone and everyone.. and they won't get rid of anyone (unless safety says so).. we have so many people there that have no business behind the wheel of a truck. I think as long as you can plan a trip, meet your ETAs, and avoid rejecting a lot of freight then you've got a lot going for you.

Thank you for your response. I will pass this info along to him this morning when he calls. He's a hard worker, safety conscious and wants to be successful so I think with the work ethics he has he's going to find some success.

Well I got called back to YRC, They have something going on, some kind of smoke and mirrors with the money/stock manipulation. STILL with a 15% give back on pay, I STILL bring home $1200 to $1400 a week running totally legal. And I get paid for everything I do. Every second. Working at this Sheethole TA makes me appreciate a real union job soooooo much more. Not that unions have the answer, but the sure as heck fill the bank account. Anyone out there, you need to keep applying for the better jobs, not just union, Con Way Truckload, Fed X, Glenmore to name a few. Your working for peanuts with company's like TA. Every trucking job you have to give up your liberty, at least bring home 70K a year with paid holidays and 3 to 5 weeks paid vacation. Shoot for the stars and keep on shooting.

I'll Be starting with T/A this week. The last carrier I was with fired me then falsified info on my DAC. This kept me out of work for 3 months and used up most of my savings. T/A rec. was the only company to see the false info and tell me what it was. Drivers this is a tough job that I just happen to love. If all you want to do is sleep, hang out at truck stops, or be at home don't do it. I strive at all times to keep in mind what the ultimate goal is. It's to please my employer. I guess maybe my understanding is a result of having owned my own company for several years. Dealing with self important, less than motivated workers made me a better employee. It can't be all about you or me there is a greater mission where everyone profits through doing the best they can. I know some of you will want to know why I was fired so here it is . I had a roll over crash last year. This year I "bumped" into a trl in one of the many impossible to turn a truck around areas. My fault. The company I worked for added a at fault accident that wasn't there. I can't disclose the company as I am currently seeking legal help to recoup my losses due to this action. There are many great things about truckin' and some bad too and the older you get the more you realize it's not all about you. God Bless you all.:biggrin_255:
