Hello. My husband begins orientation with Transport America in the morning. I hope this turns out to be a decent co. He just recently quit Barr Nunn after 3 months because they are so crappy. He has been driving for 25 yrs. Keep up with the diary and I will keep up with one of my own, being a truckers wife.
The begining (so far so good)

Well it has been awhile since i've been on here. And things are different.... everything was fine til about a month ago. i'll get into more detail later... but the just of it is that there are alot of changes going on at tcam, and NONE of them are are positive for the driver. they are tricking people out of money, are not getting people home and cutting miles... A lot. I just accepted a job from knight and i'm cutting my ties with tcam. it's bad when your own boss tells you that the company is going to crap and to get out. in 2 years tcam will be another j.b. hunt

C'mon Buddha...you can't leave these folks hanging. What is different about TA now. Is it that they will give you an extra penny per mile if you volunteer to dial down to 62? I'll take the penny because everyone else out here is getting dialed down to 62 with out being asked. As far as I know TA is running just as many miles as everyone else. Are they not paying on time? Are they keeping you out more that three weeks at a time?

I would like to know too. MY hubby started with them last week. after being screwed by Barr nunn. Went thru orientation MOn-Wed. Got his truck Wed. They sent him to a truckstop for the night and the only load he had as of Friday night was 500 miles. He sat for 23 hrs before getting another one.And the one he got is not that many miles. What's up with that?

tcam is going thru a lot of changes. my issues started with per diem. i stay out for about 6 weeks at a time. in dec. they sent a letter to everyones house about it. you were automaticly in rolled into and you had to sign 2 forms to opt out. well i was on the road the whole time and by the time i saw the letter it was too late. they say i have to what til next year to opt out. they charge you .02 cents a mile to be in the program for a admin charge. i've figured i've lost 1700 buck due to this b.s. also i've got screw in layover and detention pay too many times. i was running out west alot and now they tell me solo company drivers aren't allowed to anymore(yet more money out of my pocket). i've been written up twice for the same warning i was issues in ok. city. a month apart. i've never rejected a load, i have drop 1000 mile runs to recover fed ex loads that only were going 300 miles, and I've moved home time around to help out over the holidays. and they tell me I'm just a number. my fleet mang. has had my back, but this is all coming from the suits.... so i say it's time to move on

I hate to hear that. So is it getting so bad that as a newbie, I shouldn't look at these guys? To me the penny per mile to dial down sounds good to me at my level, what do you think? What about loads overall. Are they slowing down or just changing things around?
-
it's everything... the dailing trucks down is a joke. they dail them down but aren't giving you enough time to get it there... oh yeah, where are all my bonuses? i've hit all my targets to hit bonus... and nothinh for 3 months
-
I didn't even count on the bonus. Just looked at the straight cpm. Do you think it would be good to train with them and then move to a regional with someone else? It looks like their training is ok.

Everyone stay safe out there!
