I just want to let everyone know that I have been working with an owner operator at FedEx Ground running the lower 48 states. I am very happy where I am at. Transport America looks to have a hiring freeze. I am sorry that I haven't posted in a while. I have a week off now and I have to work on the yard and relax. I will be making a new thread here the next time I log on. Take care guys and keep the rubber side down and drive safe.

Thanks, Wolfman. I had a similar episode with another company. Recruiter said to be there on Monday. The boss called while I was on my way there to say "we are not hiring from your state." What?! I'm about half way there! He encouraged me to turn around and go home. Rats. So now on to someone new. I have two other "starter" companies I am deciding between.

How did you go about finding an O/O to hire on with? Is there some source to look at you can point us to?

And don't forget to post the start of the new thread here so we know where to look!

Good luck.

Thats funny about TA, they called me twice the last couple days offering me a job. I haven't called the guy back yet because I am hoping to get on with another company. Their yard in Columbus is right behind my apartment so getting to work would be gravy. About a 1/4 mile walk. But I'm not sure they let you bring a pet and I have my dog that I am not leaving behind.

The recruiter that left a message said he had "lots of opportunities" in my area.....

Hello everyone again. The president of the school that I went through for my refresher course told me to call FedEx Ground and see if there is anyone there looking for a driver. Right now there is one O/O that is looking for two drivers. You must have at least one year prior experience before you can climb aboard FedEx Ground. I work at the St. Paul, MN Terminal. Right now I can now private message anyone to give out phone numbers. In the next year I will need to hire on a driver. If everything goes well for me this year, I will be buying a truck and will have a spot open for a driver. I am going to be posting a new thread called " The Open Road ". I will be posting it tonight. See you there.
