In the process of dealing with the injuries, I was told I was never eligible for the short term disability I applied for, my health coverage was immediately converted to COBRA (which I got priced out of 3 months later), and the Workman's Compensation insurance carrier refused to authorize anything (hence the two years my leg injury went untreated, no one knew what was wrong because I couldn't get an MRI at the time). After 12 weeks on unpaid medical leave, I was fired. A week after that, TA reported to DAC and others that I had quit without warning or notice after less than 4 months employment, as if crippling me for life wasn't enough to end my driving career. I can never work in any aspect of trucking due to this, even if I were someday able to return to the workforce, and the trucking industry isn't the only industry that uses HireRight (aka DAC). HireRight has thus far ignored every written request to at least put my side of what happened into the record.
Sorry I couldn't put the specifics about what happened with Transport America on here sooner, according to my attorney they were monitoring my online activities on certain sites (including this one). All I could do was recommend that others get whatever insurance they feel they need from 3rd parties not associated with TA, as well as carry tools and be prepared to purchase parts out of pocket to repair TA's equipment when not in a terminal, the limit as to what my attorney would allow until everything settled, the docs had been paid, and the settlement checks cleared.
I would like to think my case is somewhat rare, but given the reasoning behind what happened to me, and the subsequent behavior by the carrier and their representatives, I sort of doubt that.
To those cubicle dwellers in Eagan, make sure to let your bosses know I now have nothing but time to make it my mission in life that this doesn't happen to anyone else, starting with the bizarre differences between how carriers are rated when compared to how drivers are (which allows carriers to get away with crippling and killing people to protect profits, while drivers can have their careers ended by a stupid seat belt ticket). -
We'll take that as a bad review, ..........

Here's what I have:
My daily logs (I was on paper logs, TA was too cheap to put electronic logs in my "trade truck")
My DVIR's
Witness statements to everything that went on, from the refusal to make repairs to being placed on medical leave to my being fired 12 weeks later
Original estimate on what the repairs would have cost had they been made, with the words "repairs refused by carrier" on it
Copies of receipts for the eventual repairs
Copy of the form approving my being placed on medical leave
Denial of my short term disability benefits, the policy having been cancelled prior to my seeing a doctor without my knowledge or permission
A letter from Anthem, stating my health coverage was cancelled the day before I was finally allowed to see a doctor
Denials for treatment (many) by TA's insurance carrier (began a few days after I was placed on medical leave), which made the leg injury far worse than would have happened otherwise
Witnesses to my being placed on medical leave, and my being fired 12 weeks later, with both promising me my job would be waiting for me once I was able to return to work without any restrictions
Reams of medical reports, including an EMG, and actual images from the MRI I paid for from the settlement
Tons of legal records, which began after I realized I was being screwed (after Anthem told me my coverage had been cancelled, and when)
The brace on my left leg
The customized wheelchair I am now confined to for life
The wheelchair accessible apartment I now live in
The disabled placard on my car
The DAC report where TA claims I quit without warning or explanation on April 6, 2011 (the day I saw the doctor, apparently that constitutes quitting), filed July 7, 2011
Of course, I have the ultimate witnesses, the several cameras I installed in my rig, with all the video, audio, and stills nicely stored on an external 3TB hard drive sitting in one of the boxes of paperwork. Oops, bet your handlers forgot about that part, didn't they? I'll bet the mechanics in Janesville haven't forgotten, given how much they worried I might be recording what they were doing (like writing out one of the handwritten threats, which they then place on my dash, after disabling the tractor protection circuit and ability to idle for more than 3 minutes, rather than replacing the 2 bad batteries).
So, which part of all this, which the judge and lawyers thought was legitimate, are you now claiming is "more than half" lies, and what proof of that do you have? Knowing you have no proof of any claims you just made, I could care less if you are just some troll trying to stir things up, or a paid cubicle weenie out of Janesville thinking more libel is the way to go. So far as I'm concerned, your first introduction to me is as a liar, which means you will never have any credibility with me, nor anyone who knows me. Best to pick another target for your lies. -
think people already know that you are a discruntel former driver.

And, believe it or not, TA is better on maintenance than about 53% of the other companies, which isn't saying much the way carrier SMS is scored (very different from drivers). If your truck is nearing or past the 500k mark, however, beware. They won't fix anything outside a terminal (and then rarely) unless the truck simply can't be moved without a tow (happened to me, I assume it happens to others).
Good luck, and swerve carefully! -
Silly troll, go try your games out on someone else, you're now blocked (though my attorney said this morning she'll be monitoring your activities, for any future libel action against TCAM). -
i was only on paper logs for 28 days then went E-logs. And its against company rules to have cameras in your truck so that probably why they fired you. -
i got 7 month experience, and my team mate 3 years, how much they pay for teams, good miles 5,000 or over ? we both have TX endorcement..
i am from Miami FL, and my team mate from west palm beach , i saw an add on craiglist looking for drivers, solo/teams
