Thinking of going to Transport America...any current drivers reading?

Which TA are you speaking of Transport America or Trans Am reason I ask is someone was talking about Trans Am on here even though it's a Transport America Thread .

What kind of miles you getting weekly out of TA ( Transport America ) ? My friend talked to a recruiter they said they have good fuel discounts , what are you seeing the discount ? He was told about some CO-OP thing you can get a loan from or something I'm not sure but the big thing was the fuel discount they preached to him .

Any info would be helpful

 

Also another question on TA is what's the % of drop and hook - vs - live unload / load ? How do they figure their mileage is it Practical / HHG / Rand or ? Do they have a good Fuel Surcharge program and how well is it or what is it as of late

 

Last few questions - I'm fielding these questions from phone call from my friend who's a O/O and lives near Fort Wayne and wants to Lease on with TA but is skeptical of them from the stand point of if they can actually keep him busy .

Do they treat their O/O good can you turn down a load that makes no since or makes you practically no money such as a 100 mile run or something ?

He was told he'd average at least 2,500 maybe a little less at 2,350 but they would keep his miles up cause they know he has overhead etc . Question is this , is that true will they keep you with 2500 miles or more most of the time and when miles are low , how low do they go on a O/O

He was told that they have dedicated O/O dispatchers is that true ? Not that it really matters but he wanted to see if they were lieing to him on a few minor things .

Again any info would be great - even anything additional you could throw in. From a O/O stand point with Transport America .. But the things he really is wondering or the main stuff is as follows

1. Treatment
2. Miles
3. Discounts on Fuel ( how much )
4. Deductions

Oh , he said also that they pay for Plate , Scales , and Fuel Tax is that correct also ?
