You can't even take a pocket knife there. The last pocket knife I took there they wanted it, well the worn out remington pocket knife in their collection now.
They wouldn't let mem keep the machine gun from The Gun Store, something abut I had to give it back.
Things to do on a layover.

For us wannabe's who want to know, If a driver has a restart and wants to see a local sight in the area, what do you do with the truck? I assume you park at a TS, but what if the closest TS is 20 miles from what you want to see or visit? I could not see taking a taxi for 20 miles (40 miles both ways); that sure could get expensive. I am assuming if you have to do a 34 reset and you are under a load, you shouldn't be parking anywhere besides a TS -am maybe not even there- if you are not going to be near the truck for a a while? I seen drivers post pics of the Empire State Building in NYC, Niagra Falls, National Parks, etc., and wonder what they do with the truck? NYC is easy to get around due to the Subway. Teach me Oh, Wise Ones!

There are some spots that are long enough to park RVs, so, I am thinking that there may be also some spots that would fit a tractor trailer or a bobtail around Ohio Drive, SW on Hains Point or near the Jefferson Memorial.
The people to inquire further into this is the National Capital Region Office of the National Park Service ...

I usually keep three or four fishing rods on the truck. Only good for when I know I'm gonna be around a body of water for a few days, but hey.... I can say that I've fished three of the five Great Lakes, the Gulf, Santee-Cooper (in my home state of SC), James River VA, Lake Texoma, Okeechobee, Cherokee Lake TN.... If it looks like it has fish in it, I'm fishin' it, by god....

Hey CarolinaCatJack: I am glad to hear someone has fishing rods on their truck. I am about to start school soon, and was thinking that once I am out driving on my own I would keep a small fishing rod or two on my truck. Even if I only get to use it a couple times year it would be worth it!

Bicycle. Look up rails to trails in along the route and go cycling. Or just find a little town you are passing through and do it. Just did the Lachine Canal in downtown Montreal QC last week. Toured around downtown Nashville the day they reopened the Grand Olde Opry.
Keyboard. I carry a Yamaha psr-910 arranger keyboard with me. I have been playing since I was a kid, play now at local festivals and nursing homes. Keeps the chops up.
Photography. Latest digital cameras give excellent results. Go for a walk and snap away. Back to the laptop in the truck and download.
Oh yes, and occasionally drive the #### thing... -
