A C store the size of a Pilot of Flying J would be ok, Just take out the 27 aisles of candy and there is plenty of room. And how about some regional food? Why cant a truckstop in Kansas serve up AUTHENTIC New York style pizza, philly cheese steaks, that sandwich in Pittsburgh that has the fries and slaw on it or a good old fashioned Wisconsin Friday fish fry? I had New York style pizza in upstate New York. A slice was $2.99 and it was the size of two slices you get in a Flying J.

This is a good thread, a friend and I talk about his very thing about once a month. Location would not be a problem, not like we don't need more truck stops. As far as competing with the big boys, we would just have to make it worth coming to, more so than the normal places. Sorry boys, no lot lizards in my place. No bumbs walking around looking for handouts either. Fenced in, with a gate and yes pay for parking. From a business stand point, I don't understand why all truckstops don't charge for parking. Rent-A-Cops will do just fine, and a local bear to patrol every now and then for the first year or so would keep the riffraff out. I would have my wife do the cooking because she is the best cook in the world, IMO. My friend would run the place and me well, just a silent investor....

Bobtail, RV and straight truck parking get a seperate lot.

You know it's kinda crazy, but we have so many empty warehouses in some areas, even really big ones like shuttered DC's, what about an "indoor" truck stop?

    That's just madness right there!

Better to keep them closed with the weeds growing and the for lease sign hanging on the busted fence.

Along with the Hooter's truck stop idea, I have also thought about this idea and also a trailer sweeping service.

Another great idea that I'm not sure why it hasn't been implemented..well, I kinda know why but I'm sure there are ways to make it work: a truck-only drive thru at the fast food restaurants in truck stops.

Why bikinis? There was a topless car wash north of Kokomo.

I've contemplated this a few times, pretty have it built in mind. I've even got a few ideas in mind in my area where it could be built. The problem, NIMBY, no one wants a truckstop. Look at how croweded some of them already are when there is a ton of room to expand, no one will let them expand.

As long as we're having a pipe dream here, let's open this in LA someplace so there's more than the Ontario TA.

Yes, i have often thought of opening a full service driver center but i doubt i could stay in business long. After barring all 4 wheelers except those drivien by employees and deliveries and putting up a 15' privacy fence around the property, i'm sure the local police force would find some code to shut me down. After all, nobody wants us around except to deliver their goods and buy fuel, so putting up a fence would make them curious as to what those unskilled laborers are doing.

*Thinks about some of the existing truck stop employees he's seen*

I think I'll pass on this,,,

There's always the posiblity that this could go wrong,,,

    *shudders*

    Horribly wrong!
