Gills truck stop was south of Terre Haute Ind. on route 41 in the small village of Shelburn, They had good food and very friendly waitress's. The building is still there but the truckstop is long gone! so are the waitress's. One girl named Gale ran off with another big rigger and broke my heart! I think she found a way out and took it. I hope she had a good life. :biggrin_2552:

How about the old truckstop at Santa Rosa, the one on old city rt. 66. rt. 54 that brings back some memories! There wasn't much happening on it other than a few small towns, but you could sure hammer down! I use to run it alot between White Sands and Santa Rosa.

Lib's on Hwy 25 west of Calera Alabama used to serve the best hamburger steak and the waitresses would invite you to their trailer out back if you were real nice and had a few extra coins. Never heard of anyone getting ripped off either.

theres a good little grease bucket in Lusk wyoming just across the border from South Dakota. 3 pumps, gravel parking lot and a mom and pop diner. Great meatloaf. called the outpost truckstop. nice and quit too. hardly any reefer wagons in there.

The original Texaco Town, in rural, central, Louisiana, where LA Hwy 28E tee's into US Hwy 84. They had a fuel / service station and a restaurant. They had good "community" coffee, delicious ice-tea, hamburgers to die for, and daily lunch specials that couldn't be beat for taste or price. It burned down in the late 80's. It was a real truck stop. I really miss that place.
