The point is they are only passing it on to the trucks & not the pick ups on the opposite side of the business. That side pays the same cash price no matter how they pay, cash-credit-debit.
The chains are getting worse by the day, I still look for the independents. The shower benefit keeps getting to be a smaller window in which it stays on your card.

My fueling habits have dramatically changed since leasing to a large company. I get great discounts(.08-.50) at T/A, Petro, and when they make bad picks on the futures market, Loves. Previously, it was Wilco, with a smattering of independents. Unfortunately, the rose colored glasses ya'll have for indys are fairly opposite from my experiences. Sure there were some that stood out, and that I shopped at more than once, but most charged extra for Visa and the restaurants were iffy at best.
Roadmedic Thanks this. -
filled up at mom and pop (kents korner) exit 11 on i20 in south Carolina last week....very nice stop, clean plenty of room easy access, nice people, attached huddle house....and best of all 3.73 for fuel, no penaltly for using a card and told me to help myself to coffee or soda afterwards

Definition of 'Loss Leader Strategy'
A business strategy in which a business offers a product or service at a price that is not profitable for the sake of offering another product/service at a greater profit or to attract new customers. -
Blame Visa...& other credit card networks, but mostly Visa. Their fees are so high...that's why a lot of small restaurants & stores require a minimum $ amount on a card purchase now, they have to cover the fees. Bigger sales, like large amounts of diesel fuel are worse. If they didn't charge more for the cards, everybody would be paying the higher price.
