They arent hated generally speaking, and some are actually very nice. There just needs to be more of them.

The fact that they unfortunately litter the landscape, and pushing a lot of the nice mom and pop joints out of business. Kind of like Walmart. Same exact everything at every location, down to the toilet paper. Mostly fast food, or Denny's and no more good sit down restaurants.
Some of the chain stores are better than others, but all in all they get old. Sure, I take my shower there, but mostly eat in the truck, since it has gotten way too expensive to eat out. If I spend 15 bucks on a meal and tip, I rather go someplace other than a truck stop, where I may get something better to eat.
I don't have a choice where I fuel, it's Pilot, Flying J or Love's for me, so I generally get stuck at one of their locations, and let me tell you, Subway sucks.....after you see the 73rd one for the week in a place to eat, in favor of the sitdown restaurant that used to occupy the space.volvodriver01, Cudascious, KnuckleBuster and 1 other person Thank this. -

They do what works, just as McD's or BK or Pizza Hut. Customers know what to expect VS. not knowing what to expect. We are creatures of habit, right ?
Big Don Thanks this. -
A lot of guys get upset because they can't sit at a counter and tell lies to other truckers for hours at a time. Personally I was never into that so I couldn't care one way or the other. I stop to get fuel and take a shower and that's about it. I fix my own food because it is cheaper and healthier. And I have the guys working for me to tell me all the lies I would ever want to hear.

But generally speaking, truck stop food is expensive, and quite often it is not particularly good tasting. And most usually it is not good for you. -
I'v ran 11 west for two years and I know alot of mom and pop restaurants around chains in any state I find myself in as far as subway Its ok for a lil bit I like to customize my own sandwich I got some really good combinations. My usual fuel spot is the J or Pilot.

I'm staying home because I need to eat veggies. No decent veggies in truck stops.
