If I can ever build up the capital, I'm so building an old fashioned truckstop with a great restaurant. But you won't be able to eat their if you don't like home made hamburgers and fresh cut french fries.

The guy who owns Lee Hi Truck Stop bought out Whites and shortly after changed Lee Hi to a TA and Whites to Petro. I stopped in at that Petro and they charge $0.25 for ice now. I miss the good old days when you could get a steak dinner if you bought fuel at many of the old mom and pop truck stops. I mentioned that to a waitress in Pennsylvania a couple fo days ago and she didn't believe that a truck stop would ever do that. They probably wouldn't today.

i rember not too long ago 1998 pilot gave free coffee with a fill and i rember those little shower coupons, from pilot, you tore off the fuel receipts for your shower, and now my memory gone, but i'm trying too think , i guess i'll have too google for sure, but i think it was coming up ind, there was truck stop were you stopp'ed and it was a old motel one time, you stop, get fuel , go park, too get your shower, you went too a room and inside this room was the bathroom , nothen else, then go too the orginal bathroom in the unit, and inside there was a tub and shower, well when i stopped , that tub felt real good after all day driving, i made sure that stop was on my route when i could, btw, are they still doing that way , about the same setup over in Cheyenne Wy, too except no tub, get fuel, go too that motel, too get your shower, too me that's a very old truck stop too, snapp brothers or did they get bought out too, i know back in 1999 the jackrabbit out west on 80 was closing down too , i just miss the old truck stop and all the sassy waitress

Some of the old truck stops would give you a shower whether you fueled or not. In addition, you could also get a free cup of coffee when you purchased fuel. At one time you pulled up to the fuel pumps and someone would come out, check under the hood, wash your windows and then park your truck for you. The independent truck stops have always provided more services than the chains. It has only been in recent years that they chains have pretty much taken over the market. And a steak with fuel is much more than the few points you receive when you buy fuel. Not all truck stops offered the dinner, but all would give you a free cup of coffee.
