    TA/Petro's Local Specialty menu item

Any of you tried it? Any good ones or bad ones to comment about?

I tried the local specialty here at the Madison GA T/A. It's basically an onion quiche. ("keesh" if you don't know how to say it) What is quiche? Well simply it's eggs with some things mixed in and baked in a pie shell and served either whole if it's small or by the slice if it's big. Here in Madison it's a vidalia onion quiche. Eggs, onions, cheese, sour cream. It's actually not bad as a side item but it's not hearty enough as a main dish. For $4 more you can get a small sirloin steak and the soup and salad bar, which makes it more like an actual dinner.

If I remember correctly, the Hudson WI T/A had a Green and Gold burger, with green peppers and cheese sauce.
The Madison WI T/A had bratwurst and sauerkraut. I really should get back that way to try it.

I believe they were Puerto Rican, not Mexican.

You should try it, on the outside it does sound kinda gross but it's quite good and will fill you up. I prefer posole which is similar but it's made with pork meat. Usually eaten topped with shredded cabbage and radishes.

So the TA in Earle AR featured "Ol' Hickory", a bbq pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw and fries. For $6.29 I thought it would be a cheap dinner.
Then my dinner came out. I know it said "..with coleslaw", I wasn't expecting the coleslaw to actually be on top of the bbq pulled pork. That was a little weird.

First time I had it was in Mexico say, 1979. Hell I ate three bowls before they told me what is was, great for a hangover.
