This place I stopped at today to use the restroom and get something to eat and drink.
It's at x136 on I-70 in Illinois. I should have just kept going the extra 25 miles to get to West Terre Haute.
They have a sign next to the restroom that lays out the "rules" - clean up after yourself, flush the toilet, and buy something, as they are apparently not a "rest area". That's all fine and dandy - I don't feel comfortable using someone's restroom either without purchasing something - it's rude.
What ticked me off was the guy behind the counter.
He rang up my purchases, and he offered a bag, and I said yes, and a receipt also, please.
Got out to the truck, realized he hadn't given me a receipt.
So I go back in, stand at the counter, and he's standing there texting away or doing God knows what on his cellphone.
I stand there probably 10-15 seconds and he never looks up, so I knock on the counter. He looks down at me with this look that says "what the f* are you bothering me for?" but he never actually said anything at all - the look on his face said it. So I said "I'd like my receipt, please." He calls it up on the register, rips it out of the printer, and lays it down on the counter in a matter-of-fact demeanor.
I found it very rude, and I will probably not go back there.
I hate rude customer service. When I worked in a heavy customer service role, I treated my customers like gold. I don't expect to be treated like gold, just treat me like a fellow human being, for crying out loud.
But I did like the sign on the bathroom - and how one of the rules was "clean up after yourself".
I stopped at a rest area later on, on 69 NB in IN and waited for an empty stall. A guy soon came out of the stall, and mind you, didn't even have his door shut, but he was just standing there peeing away. He left the stall, didn't wash his hands, I went into the stall, pee everywhere.
Some people seriously need to be punished for horrible manners.
I wish I could punish them all.
