I got a "tip" from a receiver once, he told me to get out of the driving business before I go bankrupt.

I can't believe the common response on here is "they're paid hourly so no." It's your money so do with it as you please, but just contemplate this: Whether you like it or not, agree or not, a truckstop is part of the hospitality industry. It's almost identical to a hotel just add fuel pumps, expand the gift shop, and you provide your own room. I don't know about you guys, but I was always taught that when someone in a service industry provides you with with excellent service, etiquette tells us they're deserving of a tip.

I mean these people clean blood, pee, poop, splooge, hair and god knows what else up so you guys can have a sanitary shower, and in most places they do it for $7.25 or whatever the state minimum wage is. IDK about y'all, but I sure wouldn't do that job for that money, and it's my personal opinion that if they do an excellent job, they deserve something extra. Just a little something for you to noodle on next time you're too cheap to leave a dollar or even some loose change for the people that clean your shower....what did they guy or girl before you do inthat shower before you were there.

You know what they say about opinions though.

^ Not to mention they have to clean up your pee from all over the toilet seats because a lot of you are too lazy to clean up your own mess, or don't bother to sit down and pee like I do, because it's disrespectful to everyone else to leave a nasty mess like that where other people sit.

Those of you who do this, you're disgusting and you should be castrated in public and left there to suffer.

I actually believe that the majority do not deserve any tip what so ever.Yeah its a dirty job alright I sure wouldn't want to do it. But if you watch them closely you'll notice after they clean a shower they don't remove those gloves they use to protect them they just grab whats supose to be a clean fresh towel with them nasty gloves on.I see this at all of them. Down right nasty and yes I always bring my own towel oh and by the way they do in fact use those shower towels to clean thetthe floors with including shower stall floor. Finale thought I fin amusing how many people think that just because someone works a minimum wage service industry job they deserve a tip. And yes I worked plenty before I started driving 22yrs ago and I live in a tip crazy town. Las Vegas. My thumbs are getting tired cya

I believe in tipping anyone who has provided me with a service. Ive even tipped my mechanic. But the thought has never crossed my mind to leave a tip for the person who has cleaned my shower.

It has always been my practice to leave all the change from my pocket, whatever it came out to. You can usually tell the character of a man by how he treats those people that are less fortunate than himself. These folks do a nasty thankless job, and like most drivers, they only hear about the mistake that they made. What if that small amount of money bought that person a gallon of milk that evening for his or her family?? I picked up a chain link in a drive tire on Shasta a year or so ago and stopped at Redding and had the tire repaired. The man that fixed the tire had duct tape around the end of one of his boots, as I looked a little closer, the sole of his shoe had come loose on the front half of his shoe. When he got my tire fixed and I had payed the bill, I told him that I wanted to give him something, because after looking at his boots it took me back a great many years, so I gave him a twenty, if I would have been able to spare it, I would have given him enough to replace the boots, but I didn't have that much. When I was a kid, I got a job in a local trucking company shop first sweeping, then one thing led to another, and somehow nearly forty years have passed, but when I was working in that shop, I had to put folded up time cards in the bottom of my boots to keep my feet warm, if you saw me under a truck on a creeper, you could see the time card through the bottom of my boots, I was told this on many occasions, after the cardboard got wet, I would have to replace the cards or they would freeze up and my feet would get cold again. I was where I was because of decisions and mistakes that "I" had made, and if I am thinking correctly, I would say that we all have made mistakes and have had to eat crow and do jobs that we didn't want to. Why not anonomously help someone when you can, as the earlier poster said, "but by the Grace of God" I have a little extra to help some one else with. Maybe your perspective comes in to play here.

I tip very seldomly. Not because I'm cheap, but because there's a lot of times I feel as if they'd put a little effort in, it would be a lot better. Does their job suck? Hell yeah it does. Look at some of these "drivers". I get it from that aspect that it's a rough job. But they did, however, sign up for it. A lot of "pay check collectors" instead of workers are "cleaning" those showers.

So that's been my problem all these years, I'm going in the wrong room.

And yes I do tip, especially if she looks like this.
