I have been living outside of the USA and it has been a long time since I have been inside a truck stop/travel center. It used to be the fast food restaurants only had a limited “express” menu. How is it nowadays, is everything about a fast food restaurant in a truck stop the same as you would find in a “regular” one?

Definitely raised prices from a regular car-accessible restaurant. It's not fair, but hey, there are cheaper ways to eat out here.

    Northeasterner and passport220 Thank this.

    Depends on where you go.
I find Pilot/Flying J's and Loves to be fairly close to normal.
TA/Petro seem to be Higher more often than not.

Next time take a look at those huge Hershey bars. TA sells them around this time through Christmas. Two years ago they were 29.99. Now they are 49.99. I tell this to the clerk and all she says to me is "that's inflation!" If only my money rose at the same pace we would be good. At that price point I won't be buying one. Also the giant reeses pb cups are now 14.99. Used to be 9.99. Perhaps oversized chocolate bars are what to invest in these days ...

As far as the food goes in truck stops it really is getting ridiculous. Basicly when you sit down to eat now you are talking at least $10 for breakfast, and $20 for dinner. I'm eating way more food from the truck now. It is better than the cat food served in most truck stops also.

TA's and Petro's are regular stops for me and I NEVER spend that much money. My employer gives me a cash $25 per diem for meals and I can make that work with no problems.

There is not a dollar menu, compared to regular fast food chain.

If you want to make $$$, invest in coffee and chocolate futures. The big guys are, that's what's driving up the prices.
The farmers aren't getting much more, it's the investors.
I buy green coffee and roast it myself, so I get lots of informative newsletters.

Some places have the express menu like Dairy Queens, kfc, pizza hut and some taco bells. Just depends on where you go. The price on the toll road service plaza's are more expensive for fast food then the truck stops. Some McDonald's in the truck stop have the dollar menu but its limited.
