$3.869 at Shell...5 miles up the road from the Pilot @ $4.259. That's a $0.39/gallon difference. $0.02 per gallon is justified under the city diesel fuel tax...which is another reason why I won't fuel at that Pilot, T/A, or Hucks (the Shell station is in the next town over...no extra tax). The other $0.37/gallon is gouging, though...totally uncalled for. That's over $30/day extra I kept in my pocket by going to a station with a more reasonable price.

so you are saying its a level playing field? i agree if people couldnt buy politicians, but the ATA represents the big dawgs on the block, and they are pulling a lot of strings, lets not be too naive

Now you're adding politics to the discussion>wrong forum.

The point I was making is that the small fleets can get the big discounts like the big fleets do, the just have to show some initiative instead of pissing and moaning about things.

the ATA is business, the ATA is politics, the ATA affects us truck drivers, how do you NOT understand how it is all related? otherwise you are trying to attack a problem without a proper perspective of its borders

This was your original post and then you went on about TA/Petro conspiring with the big fleets to run the little guys out of business. I put oh my "tin foil hat" and made the point that the small guys could buy fuel as competetively as the big guys. You're the one that added the politics and the ATA to the mix.

Your topic take it any where you like, just don't piss and moan about the price of fuel and unfair competition.

Coffee oughtta be straight up & strong. It doesn't need "flavor shots" or "sweeteners" or any other additive. Just pour it into the cup & go...and it better be a nice, dark color...not that weak-### watered down crap....I don't want to be able to see the bottom of the mug until I've drank the last drop.

how can you say its not gouging when TA, Pilot and QT are charging all 3.69 for gasoline

the truckstops are purposely exaggerating the price of diesel for trucks

that is the definition of gouging

and 14% is a pretty good markup on top of what they are already making

If you think you're being abused then beat them @ their own game>buy whares in TA/Petro and reap the profits in dividends and share value increases.

And AGAIN, enough of this conspiracy nonsense. Don't like the pricing do something about it! There are numerous ways for an independant or small fleet to get fuel discounts.

    14 cents is 3.5% markup on $4/gallon, not 14%.
