That's the only reason that I use TA/Pilot. Shower credits. I would need to buy 87 gallons of fuel at the QT before I saved enough to pay for the shower at a TA/Pilot ($12), and I'd still be out the reward points.

All last week I was fueling up at a Shell station...only 1 diesel pump with a satellite....$3.869/gallon....and no waiting, because everybody else was 5 miles away overpaying for their fuel. The Pilot was $4.259/gal. The T/A next to the Pilot was $4.219/gal. The Hucks across the street from the T/A was $4.169/gal. I have never seen one of the big chains beat a local station on their diesel price. I could have showered twice per day for what I saved on my fuel purchases. -
But do we know what the fleet price was? It has nothing to do with pump price.
Leftlane101, zmpart and Cranky Yankee Thank this. -

so ta, pilot and others can sell the fuel for the same price as QT, but they jack up the price for OwnerOps and give the normal price for the large fleets
so is it too much of a stretch to say that TA & co are in cahoots with the large fleets in an effort to push the smaller companies out of business? add to that, the penalties that small companies pay to DOT which are the same penalties that larger companies pay, so a $50k fine wont bother Swift, but it will cripple many smaller companies
and yes, NO ONE should get a fine, but typically we all have to pay the piper some time.

The O/O's and small fleets CAN buy discounted fuel just like the big fleets, they just have to have some initiative.RickG Thanks this. -
...or just use the independent fuel stops who charge what the fuel should cost as opposed to having to gouge people at the pump in order to make up for the deep discounts they are giving to the larger fleets.
Eaton18 Thanks this. -
Where they gouge you is on snacks and drinks.
