One of my friends told me that truckers often speak very highly of truck stops, almost describing it like a calm party.
I figure this is kind of covered in the other posts, but i wonder if somebody can give an anwser to these questions.

I'm trying to get a good idea of what a typical truck stop scene is like and what the vibe is there, One of my friends told me the truckers he knew spoke well of truck stops, describing them kinda like a calm party.

How long do you typically stay? Is there stops you frequent

Do you ever plan to meet up with people there-like maybe drivers you randomly talk to on the CB?

What is your favorite thing to relax? Do you smoke a lot?Drink a lot of coffee? Interact with the locals/other drivers? Watch tv/read? Call home? Or just sleep/shower/shave/eat?

    reply or pm,
    thanks

Personaly I don't spend that much time in the truck stops. I keep plenty of food and cold water in my truck (About a week of each). Some truck stops are nice and relaxed, others are dangerous after dark. Personally I like the quiet of a little out of the way turnout in the middle of no where. Some place that I will be the only one there. That way its nice and quiet. There are a lot of people that do enjoy the company and conversation. I do meet friends at them from time to time but these are friends that I have known outside of trucking.

    who was this so-called friend, a physco-analyist...??

    a "calm party".............???

truckstops are anything but a "calm party"................

try finding a parking space between 4 PM and 6 PM daily here in the east coast, especially furthur up north.

try getting to the fuel islands at those times too.

try getting a place to sit down in the resturant.

    try finding clean bathrooms.

try finding help in the truckers store.

try finding peace and quiet in the truckers lounge while you're trying to watch a movie or the news.

try finding a shower room that is available at those hours.

try eating your dinner (when you finally do get a table) and your number for the shower room is called, and you're late and they give your shower room away..........

and i NEVER try to meet any trucker i "randomly" speak with on the c.b. radio.............he could be a physco..........

    yeah...........a "calm party"..................

your "friend" needs to get his stuff straight...............
