Well I had a very negative experience today at the Wilco-Hess truckstop on I-40 at the 257 mile marker outside of Nasheville. We travel to the Carolinas this way quite frequently and stop here for our ten hour break. Anyway, at around 3 this morning, I went in to go to the bathroom and then wandered around looking at the refrigerators and the data plates inside concerning refrigerant type, charge, and compressor parameters. (I'm interested in HVAC and refrigeration) all well and good, right? Then I went in about 6 for a bathroom stop, and two store employees basically cornered me and would not let me leave. Reason why? They accused me of stealing a bottle of Pepsi from the refrigerator I had opened to read the operating parameters on. I told them what my purpose was, and said that I had never in my life stolen or lied about anything. They kept harrassing me and claimed they had a video proving it. When I said I wanted to see the video as proof, they wouldn't let me. They were very loud, rude, and obnoxious, basically belittling me in front of at least one employee at the fuel desk and several customers. Finally they let me go after about 15 minutes. But it doesn't end with that. I told my dad, and he and I went back to talk to them about an hour later. He asked to see the manager. When the nasty old man came out and my dad calmly asked him what they had done to me and why. He immediately exploded into a rage, threatening to call the police and have us removed, basically for nothing. He still wouldn't let us see the video. In fact the stupid old fart didn't even think about how something like they accused me of could have logically been done. He continued to yell at us, and blatantly calling me, more or less, a criminal. Finally we just left, and needless to say, I called him a few nasty, derogatory things in Russian as I walked out. I ask of any of you who travel through here and plan on stopping for a break, buying fuel or food there, or even go to the bathroom, avoid this truck stop at all costs. Don't give those hateful people the time of day, and certainly not your business. Essentially boycot the whole place. We don't need to support places like that. If enough of us avoid it, and tell others about it, maybe we could actually get those people fired, or even get the place shut down for good. Please, if you believe me, and support action against this kind of treatment, tell everyone you know about this place, and lets see what we can get done.
Warning to all about a certain TN truckstop

Do you know your activity is really odd? At 3 in the morning?
Id be suspicious of you too if your hobby was to read refrigerator data plates in convenience store in the middle of the night.Balakov100, mclass555, Fatboy42 and 15 others Thank this. -
You should contact the corporate headquarters. Usually the employees at those places work there because they have reached the pinnacle in their miserable lives and realize they've wasted their lives and will always be failures.

I would have told them to call the police. Then press charges on them for false inprisonment.
Poking around the cooler at 3 am is a bit odd and would draw scrutiny.TruckDuo, WorldofTransportation, Snowshoes and 2 others Thank this. -
It may be a little suspicious, but they still had no right to corner me, accuse me of something in front of everyone, not even listen to what I was saying, and wouldn't even show me the "evidence" they supposedly had against me. And why did they get mad, aggressive, and threatening to my dad when he asked them about it? Sorry but they were in the wrong the whole way.

If it were me being accused, I would have called the police myself. Maybe I'm odd because sometimes my temper goes off the deep end.TriPac Dude, frankgh, Snowshoes and 1 other person Thank this. -
I think I'd probably let that one go. I mean that's some kind of weird behavior you got going on there. I definitely wouldn't drag my dad into it.

Why are you reading fridge information?
That's odd.moosc, mclass555, Richter and 1 other person Thank this. -
I am fascinated by the refrigeration cycle, different refrigerants used, high and low operating pressures, compressor types and manufacturers and their associated parameters etc. it's just a fascination of mine, and my constant curiosity and insatiable desire to learn everything I can about things I'm interested in. Plus I have two recognized "mental disorders" which cause some of this odd behavior, ie, obsessive-compulsive disorder and Asperger's syndrome, both of which can cause this kind of dedicated, fanatical, and sometimes strange interest in things like that. It's just me.
