Really not a TS I know.

You can park at the Dirt Lot across the road from the Casino,.
First place you get to after you cross into Nevada from Arizona.

    Walk across the road.
There's a Trail that runs to the Dam.

Be sure to bring walking shoes, and prolly some water.
To the Dam I think is about 3 1/4ml.
If you walk up to the Walkway by the new Bridge. And walk across the Dam it's probably closer to 7+ miles.

When I got back to the Truck I was Off for 3.5hrs.
It was a lot easier walking there then back though.
If you ask nicely you might even be able to get a ride back to the Casino.
I'm sure at least Half the people there are headed back North.

I did learn a bit also. Didn't know about the old RR Tunnels, which are right on the Trail.

I was mad last time I went through the Area, as far as I know there is no other place to stop close by.
Actually didn't know there was a Trail ther, ssort of found it by accident.

there's 2 casinos there. been there few years now. i heard truckers get a discount during the week. i wanna say free. but i was told that 3 years ago when i came back out. so memory slips. they've got a really good buffet on the weekends. the second casino is pretty good food also.

The Hacienda Hotel Casino, is the closest the ####.
I bet not many of you here knew that you can show your CDL and get a free room. They do have a website.
Call first, because they were recently bought out and was starting a major remodel / upgrade. (opened in the 80's, so i't 'tired' but still functional, and they do allow pets in room.
The buffet was so so. Had better food off the menu.
There is a 1ts run movie theater .
The other hotel Casino, closer to Boulder city, I believe also offers free rooms to cdl holders, if not a heavy discount. Been many years I stopped there.

You are in the desert. There is no probly about it, TAKE WATER with you, when you venture out for a hike. Also be advise, poisonous creatures that bite and sting, and can cause death, are abundant out there. Rattlers prefer late night , early morning, to slither around. In the heat of the day, they like to hide under brush and rocks. Keep your eyes open.

My tour of Hoover Dam was quite memorable and enjoyable. I highly recommend it for anyone that gets a chance. I drove a rental car but they have shuttles and tours originating from Vegas. But it would be worth a 3.5 mile walk.

    $40 http://www.grandcanyontourcompany.com/hooverex.htm

    $85 http://www.hooverdamtourcompany.com/express.html
Coupon knocks it down to $45 http://www.groupon.com/deals/hoover-dam-tour-company-3

There a dozen others just google it. The price includes the $11 tour admission fee.
