Hi Buckeye, I think people are just sick of the cheaper ones breaking in the cold. Years ago, you could buy decent coil ones, but I've seen many go back to rubber. Just don't let them lay on your deck plate, or the light cord either, for that matter.

ya i move more trailers daily than the average driver moves. so the plastic ones are annoying. the rubber ones would be great.

another thing I have seen with coil plastic. after some age and sun bake they get real brittle like in the cold. found that out one day when I went to stop coming off an off ramp. sailed right through that light before I could get stopped. new shorts for me that day!

Abrasion! When you turn those lines are going to drag on the deck. Just another place for DOT to put you out of service.

man what a great point.seriously, the number of drivers running with the lines laying directly on the deck plate is mind boggling.imho, the only thing that the dot will notice quicker is not wearing a seatbelt. i use a rubber strap hooked to my headache rack to keep mine nice and high and clean looking.that is one thing i won't be written up for.

Hi rider, the truck stop ones are junk. I have had the coil ones that were twice as thick as the cheap ones and lasted a long time.
