There was an episode of 'King of the Hill", where Hank just got him an 18 wheeler to deliver some furniture or something like that. The went into the truck stop to eat and went to the drivers section. The real drivers were giving him grief about not being a real truck driver so he wasn't allowed in their section.
Always got a hoot out of that episode.
And speaking of 76 Truck stops, the one just west of Blythe, CA had a great shop back in the early 70's. I was driving my 72 VW beetle back to Houston from visiting my relatives in LA and the A/C went out. Don't know how he did it but he replaced the expansion valve with one made for a truck, and it worked til the day i sold the bug. That was a real mechanic.

That episode is called Livin on Reds Vitamin C and Propane.

The scene you're talking about starts at about 7:10. My favorite line from Hank in that scene is ..."You think I'm not a trucker? Well I drove through El Paso during rush hour and didn't grind a gear."

I don't sit in the drivers section anyways. Used to but #### some of us really need to shower before having dinner. :(

My first time to that particular area of Lubbock.
I thought it was somewhat, nicely tucked away back there amongst that mix of residential and commercial fronts.

I always avoided the professional driver section because 4 different plumes of cigarette smoke in my face while trying to eat was unbearable.
