On I-81 there's Lee - Hi in Lexington at exit 195, best truck stop food in the state ain't even close. Harrisonburg truck stop on I-81 at the 243 is pretty good.

On I-95 Sadler Bros at Exit 11 in Emporia has a Five Guys, A sports bar & a restaurant. Cant go wrong with either 3.

Outside of that you got the typical terrible Iron Skillets & Denny's of the world

I was going to mention the Sadler Bros, if you stop in you might stumble onto Elliot or Hermie.....

I found one place in South Boston VA, on 501 not far off 58 with plenty of parking and excellent food. It's called Smokin Jake's. I had the best steak of my life there and took some BBQ to go. Everything is excellent and affordable. Another place is Barnyard BBQ near teays valley WV, close to US60 and I 64. That was a roadside stand in a dirt parking lot.you'll miss it if you sneeze. I passed it and ended up parking on the side of the road with my flashers on and walking back to it. Well worth the effort.

Brintle's is now a Flying J. I have not stopped in there since the conversion, but I hope the restaurant remains Brintle's.

I've been to Bills Truck Stop a year ago. The food is good but I wouldn't recommend the shower. Scariest shower ever ! It's perfect for a horror movie.

    I-81 xit 195 in Lexington VA, Lee-Hi TA/Berky's restaurant
I-81 xit 205 in Raphine VA, Petro has the typical Iron Skillet, but they also have a hot bar on the other side with all kinds of good stuff.
I-95 xit 119 in Wilson NC, Parkers BBQ (truck parking in dirt lot on left side of bldg.)
I-95 xit 11 in Emporia VA, Sadler Bros./Pilot (huge parking lot)

Franks in Chesapeake VA used to be good, but the last time I went in there, it was creepier than Bill's in Salisbury NC. I didn't eat there at that time, but I used to go to a bar down the street when I was young and stupid and then go there for breakfast to sober up before going to work (non-driving job).
