This posted information is an EXCELLENT reason NOT to have any ride-a-longs with you, especially family members who are still minors but may still be old enough to be ride-a-longs.
IF I was a professional truck driver with a "CDL", I would be SOLO stating that I would only have 3 ride-a-longs in my truck: me, myself, and I.
From what I am reading and have seen in various other places, it is best NOT to have to be responsible for the safety and well being of ride-a-longs. It is too DANGEROUS.
Part of my signature is this:
Health, freedom, and privacy - 3 priceless treasures: all 3 of them go hand in hand.
I do NOT wish any type of bad luck or misfortune on anybody; in any shape, manner, or form whatsoever.
Do drivers steal from other trucks?

Let me say this: for prudent, self-aware and prepared people...........the road is no more dangerous than living in some of the situations that folks do. You are making a mountain out of a molehill.mje Thanks this. -
I am HOPING to eventually go to a truck driving school to learn how to drive a truck. Also, I am HOPING to eventually be able to drive SOLO OTR to all 48 states and Canada.
In the mean time, I am cleaning up my MVR and employment record through the passage of time. Also, I am working on getting my health in check to be able to comply with both D.O.T. and trucking company standards.d o g Thanks this. -
Thankfully nothing has been stolen by other drivers. My Soul, Paychecks, Time and Patience has been stolen by former employers.
Jaded and non forgiving now, If another driver stole from me. My locker at work has zero padlock. Would not be the first or last time played scrabble sober with another co-worker over something stupid, Stealing would deserve a proper throat punch and no mercy rule.joseph1135 Thanks this. -
I was told not more than a year ago that older chevy keys are pretty close to the same as others that there were only a certain amount of key combinations. I called the guy on his ########. Well he proved me wrong when he was able to get into my wife's car a 2003 Chevy Cavalier with his 2004 Pontiac Gran Prix key. Wasnt able to start it, but he sure as hell was able to unlock the drivers door with the key.

I had my fuel drained twice while on the road, once in PA and once in Memphis. In Memphis I went into the T/S for coffee and stood in line for 5 minutes, came out to find my fuel cap on the ground with spilt fuel. They took a piece of wood, punched out the thing I just bought to prevent people from siphoning fuel into the tank and then I don't know how they did it but they got away with 40 gallons of fuel. I stopped fueling up when I stopped for the night and started to fuel up first thing in the morning.
southtruck Thanks this. -
Could get in, but couldn't turn the ignition. -
Exactly. I've learned my lesson, and now carry a hammer next to my seat in all my vehicles. I'll never call the cops again on a thief where an ambulance isn't also needed. I don't care if it's a phone charger or my wallet. Thieves aren't human in my book. -
I had a set of tarps stolen off my truck while sitting at the company I was leased to's terminal.

How do people get away with stealing fuel like that?? Dang
