I love when I can find a slice or two of the sausage gravy pizza, and a nice tub o' pepsi with the cherry flavoring... Delicious...

Whats your guilty truck stop vice that you really shouldn't be eating/drinking??

    Shaggy Thanks this.

I'm addicted to the free coffee at the self-serve coffee machines.
It's nice to fill up the thermos and coffee mug and not have to stand in line to pay for it.

I hate hot dogs, but some drivers love the free all you can eat hot dogs that are usually located by the free coffee. Some drivers really love those things; I've seen them scarf down 3 or 4 within 5 minutes and never look up.

Free hotdogs? Hell I guess I have been away too long, who offers free unlimited hotdogs? I'm sure they aren't the best hotdogs in the world but hey if they are free they are for me!

Every so often, when I have the time, I like to go into the Iron Skillet around 6-7pm and sit at the bar and listen to other truckers BS.

I rarely ever speak up, because I'm just not all that good in social situations, but I like to sit and listen. I just sit, listen, and occasionally smile.

I listen to one guy talk about crappy dispatchers, or how such and such broker screwed him over. And of course, they all have to talk over each other about where they just came from and where they're going, stuff no one cares about unless they're the one talking.

Being over the road is lonely for all of us, and I just find it enjoyable to sit and get a small glimpse into the lives of others like me.

Of course, when I go into such eateries, and there's no one in there, or no one is talking, I'm disappointed.

I remember the one fellow at the TA restaurant who had started an argument about how it's the trucking company's fault that he's fat and doesn't get any exercise and is forced to stuff his mouth with fatty restaurant food and whatever else there is to eat. And how it's not his fault that he has to drive a truck because he can't find anything else. Basically, life isn't fair and it's everyone else's fault but his. Started a big argument at that place and I did speak up that one time. Can't remember what I said, though.

My other vice is Subway. I always ate Subway. 4 days of the week on the road I eat Subway. Now that I've been off the road for a little bit, I can't stand that place. But I guess it was better than McDonald's.

It's been a long time since I've been OTR but I used to enjoy a good chicken fried steak, with mashed taters and lots of gravy on both.

I'm headed back out on that big road in 2 weeks, So anyone that knows of a place nowadays that has a good chicken fried steak I'm all ears.

"Free" is just a word some truckers interpret differently. Hotdogs with all the condiments @ $1.75 each means "free all you can eat if you keep your back to the cashier", to some drivers.
