Delivering into the Norfolk, VA Naval yard in a couple days. Anyone have experience overnight parking with a truck as close to there as possible?
I see a Lowes and such around the Hampton area but would like to get closer.

big charlies truckstop, or stay in Richmond at the t/a and drive down early
-
There's Big Charlies but that place is a dump. You might wanna go down 460 and stay at the little truck stop on your left before you get to the 58 interchange in Suffolk. Nice Restaurant inside.
skibum_63 Thanks this. -
Not much in the area.
Franks at the split for 264/664 on 460 in Chesapeake. Bout as close as you'll get. Small dirt lot get there early. Haven't been there in awhile the restaurant used to be decent.
Couple just west in Suffolk. Kangaroo on 460 bypass, miller mart 460 exit west off bypass or 2 small wilco Hess on 58 and 13. That's pretty much it unless you stop short in Richmond -
Dont go in prior to 8am, traffic will be horrid, and pretty sure they will have to wait till after the morning rush. There is a large parking lot around by Gate 1 over at the NEX, you could get a truck in there, whether or not they allow you to stick around over night is another question.

Thanks fellas. Looked at Charlie's on Google sat maps. Seems there is a small industrial area near by if no spots available at Charlie's. It'll probably be 21:00 or so before I get into that area so no telling how crowded it'll be.

I know it's a mute point, but have you asked the Navy if they allow over night parking in a secured area on Base?
-
^Not yet. Plan to in the morning though.

You could drop down into some of those hole at Charlies Truck Stop never to be seen again.
double yellow Thanks this. -
No doubt! Pulled in their lot and left pretty quick. If you take the next left past Charlie's, it'll take you into a pretty nice industrial area with plenty of quiet places to park.
Oh, and bumper to bumper traffic at FIVE THIRTY in the morning getting into the Navy base.
