Not the best there was, but like mentioned it at least was some more parking. I ran up there enough to have stopped in there a coupla times. I like all the lil independents better anyway. At least up that way. Loves is building some new ones in AL, one in Tuscumbia and another one in Ozark.

Being closed and bought by the state to improve the exit ramp. There's a replacement ta being built up the road to replace this one.

Yup! I don't think many people actually read the article. I would be surprised if the new TA has a restaurant operated by them. Flying J and Pilot realized a restaurant is not profitable and does not draw a large crowd. Having a chain restaurant draws not only the truckers but people off the interstate. Truck stops make their money selling fuel.

I dont spend my time in truck stops or even sleep at one only time i stop is to fuel shower or grab something quick to eat. Most of the loves n pilots r small limited parking spaces. Like that pilot across from the ta what is there like 5 freaking parking stalls lol.

I have been a couple of TA's that no longer have a full service restaurant. At one time Flying J had a good restaurant. They did let the stores decline in recent years prior to them filing bankruptcy. I think they could have turned things around. I had hoped that Pilot would not gut the restaurants when they took over. Pilot has had problems with Flying J's since the got rid of their restaurants. Most people don't like Denny's that they put in most of them. I have rarely seen then with even half of their capacity and they have the worst coffee. Flying J has been struggling to find a restaurant that drivers will accept and patronize. They closed one restaurant in Oklahoma and have had a problem finding any takers on any type of restaurant at that location. One positive improvement that I have seen are the Golden Corral's in some of their stops. They seem to be better accepted. I have tried them in Virginia and Maryland. I still prefer ordering from the menu.

Drivers need to eat well in order to maintain their health and a quality lifestyle. Drivers are under a lot of stress with long days. It helps to have good food to fuel your body. You can't be healthy without eating good food. Constantly eating fast food just doesn't cut it.

    from http://www.roanoke.com/business/article_59efbfae-782c-11e3-9f0b-0019bb30f31a.html

To try to make up for the loss of traveler services, VDOT sent the business owner information on six parcels in the corridor large enough to support a new travel center — three in Elliston, two in Dublin and one in Augusta County.

Bond said the business owner had so far not told VDOT it was interested in re-establishing the travel center. If the company decides to not reopen, it is entitled to a going-out-of-business payment of $75,000 on top of the real estate compensation, Bond said. If it chooses to re-establish the business somewhere else, VDOT will give it $25,000 to help defray the cost, he said.

Who's responsibility is it? It's the drivers' responsibility. Not the truckstops'. The food in the TA "full service". Restaurants is just as bad as fast food. The craziest thing about this is you can petition for something better, insteaf people are upset at losing this trashy hole in the wall.

The worst part of this whole mess, is that TA has known for 2 years that the location would be closed... and they have done nothing about replacing the travel center... instead they took the money and are leaving.

Sounds like what TA does at every location. Take the money and run, don't update anything. Well, they did put new signs at some places.....
