Tough place to park anyway. Hard to get in and out when its near full.
-
Like there is any parking anyway at the few & too small rest areas along that whole corridor & VA pigs love to wake you if you are parked ANYwhere on the shoulder, even on the aforementioned rest area exit. Heaven forbid you park on an onramp shoulder...no no no, that is an instant ticket.
Out of hours? No problem, I will just ticket you for parking illegally on a on ramp shoulder then as soon as you release the brakes - ticket you for violating HOS.
Silly truck driver, don't you know we know you legally need 10hrs sleep a day? Even if its not actual sleep...
Burn them all, in front of their children.
Hopefully those enlightened spawn use some of that much neglected common sense their parents forsook in the future law making they do, if only for survival's sake.Milkman719, jbee, Chinatown and 3 others Thank this. -
that one was a dump anyhow....havent stop their in 10 years i wont miss it

PLenty of Truck Parking along 81. You guys always wanna jam pack into the Pilots, T/A's. I never have trouble finding parking along 81 wee hours into the Morning. Harrisonburg Truck Plaza, The Liberty at the 273 across from Sheetz, Lee Hi (Even tho a T/A now)There's a couple of Mom and Pop places in between Wytheville & Blacksburg.
Anyhow that T/A was a dump.SheepDog, Reefer_Madness, PackRatTDI and 1 other person Thank this. -
Who cares. Good riddance to that nasty dump. It should have been an embarrassment to them. Now they can bulldoze that slop house in Harrisburg, PA too.
-
I never understood why drivers had such a hard on for that TA. Always seemed packed.
-
It does, however, keep yet more solar powered drivers from clogging up the too few & too small rest areas from 1800-0800.
Plus, there is no such thing as too many fuel stops, bathrooms, & showers especially if one does not happen to have a ton of shower credits at all times for all the places one might find oneself due to HOS, load, weather, etc.
As regards cleanliness, who trusts a 'cleaned' shower & towels anyway?
You cannot see viruses, bacteria, & fungi; what makes you think the shower cleaners can?
How motivated do you think they are to clean to a "hospital grade" level?
Big secret -
Walmart
Generic great value brand disinfectant
$2.30
Spray to hearts content (every square inch)
Profit
Another one -
Did you know they don't always WASH towels?
Watched them take a whole bundle of those rustic red colored towels from cart bin & dump strait into the dryer during heavy shower use.
More then once at more than 1 location.
Does it not bug anyone that NONE of the chains (sapp bros & little america excluded) even use white towels that can be good old fashioned bleach nuked?
Here we go again -
Walmart
Linen section
Bath towels
$4.99-$20.00
Choose color & quality
ProfitLast edited: Nov 4, 2014
SheepDog Thanks this. -
I'm sort of curious what's going to happen. I don't see any new TA's being built. Are they only concentrating on Petro? I see Pilot and Flying J keeping their places up and building new.
-
Most of the TA's are the old Union 76 or Pure truck stops. The only recently built TA that comes to mind is one in Dallas on I-20. It doesn't even have a full service restaurant. Pilot seems to be the only chain to be expanding. Every time I turn around I seem to see another Pilot sign going up on a smaller chain or independent truck stop. I would like to see Petro build more truck stops or for Pilot to stop taking over some of those independents.
gokiddogo Thanks this.
