They really aren't "free", to the consumer, that is. They use it to get customers in the door. Free showers are a"perk" to companies who fuel there. If you go for a shower, you're in the store. You see some combos, and you buy them. And a soda. You end up paying one way or another.
how do they pay for free showers?

Its all computerized.
They get the money reimbursed the same as you would through the home office. Same with rewards points/loyalty cards with at like CVS/speedway or whatever. -

Not to mention the simple fact there is good profit to be made in selling a gallon of diesel fuel X's 16,000+ gallons/day ... do the math. Don't worry about the major truck stops. They're doing [better than] ok.

It does not cost $12.00 for that water coming out of the shower head when you take a shower, so who cares where the shower money goes.....
I know water costs money and electric for the hot water heater, but it does not cost the location $12.00 per person to provide you the shower facility, they are making out like a bandit if the location charges everyone $12.00 for a shower.
IF you just spent $400 dollars in diesel fuel, that place can give you a free shower and a free cup of coffee ALWAYS! -
HotH2o, Skate-Board and Big Jay Thank this.

But you qualify for a free shower after just 50 gallons you ask.... well the fuel industry knows truckers on average take a shower only every other day so they are still making out, especially on the truckers who go home every night or choose to shower only once a week- you know who you are....Last edited: Dec 1, 2014
