Does anyone remember the old original T/A Truckstops? Like the ones in Rochester[Henrietta], NY, or Garysburg, NC or Mahwah, NJ? I was just thinking about the old days in the early 1970's and the original T/A Truckstops. I also remember the Travel Ports and Roadway Plazas of NY state. Thanks for any replies and others that I have forgotten about.

I sure remember the one on Route 17 in Mahwah....I used to pull out of Valley Cottage, NY and 17 was basically the only route back then to hook you up to the tpke, I80, I78, etc.....It was quite small, not a lot of parking, dirt lot, etc.....We used to call it "little Montreal", due to the Quebec guys holing up there....Never spent a lot of time there, kind of a greasy spoon as I recall.....There was a nice diner down on Rte 22 though....The old Ford plant was there in Mahwah then too, with a lot of NuCar Carrier guys in & out.....When they built the 287 connector, it was history....Haven't been through there in a long time....

You mean when the name was Truckstops of America, not TravelCenters of America.
The built 5 of them on I-80 in PA as those sections of highway opened up, about 1970. They were palaces at the time, and except for Clearfield which is now a Sapp Bros all operating. Some of the Sohio locations they took over weren't so hot.

I remember when the ta in Las Cruces still had that old sign up.

My dad and I ate there at the old restaurant a few times in the old building.
