Has anyone been to the old Jarrell's Truck Stop ie:All American Truck Stop in Doswell, Va since it's planned re-opening? I sure hope they have cleaned up the grounds and the Econolodge. It was fairly decent when it was Jarrell's but went downhill quick after it was sold to the foreigners. I hope the new owners take pride in it because it was a decent large facility before. Also that dump in Millersville, Md off I-97 New Transit Truck Stop. The restaurant served great food but the lot was atrocious and now they want $10.00 for overnight parking and will knock on your door in the middle of the night to ask if you paid. Forget that rat's nest.

You mean it closed again? I stopped in there about a year ago. Pretty much a dump inside, nice chrome store tho. I leave my truck at the T/A 10 miles down the road so I really don't have any business to go there when I leave out or passing thru.

It was closed or almost dead a few weeks ago. I parked overnight in the lot. Didn't see any signs of life in the main building.

Do they still have the silly CabAire superstructure up? My bet is the amusement park across the street covets the property, but haven't come to a price yet...

Kings Dominion barley fills their own parking lot, even on holiday's during the summer. They have no use for it.

I agree. It used to be packed but the park has had attendance fall short recently. I wouldn't be surprised to see it close someday soon. As for the All American I read that it has new owners but I bet it will never make it unless they do a complete clean up and refresh the entire place which I'm sure they do not have the money to do. Maybe T/A should buy it for a Petro since they sold Ruther Glen to Flying J

Oh no, Kings Dominion isn't closing no time soon, they still do great business. As fair as the Petro deal, I doubt it. I hear T/A would love to get rid of the one that got at the 92 in Ashland since most guys go to the 89. Might as well just close the dump at the 98 IMO unless they can do something great with it.

Hi, Navypoppop. I know this thread is six years old but I just wanted to let you know Doswell is currently a Roady's. It does decent business; I saw quite a few trucks in the front lot. The large back lot with the IdleAir equipment is closed off, so I don't know what they plan to do with that. The Econo Lodge is still standing and looks to be in pretty good shape. The repair shop and truck wash are closed down for good, it appears.

    Dave_in_AZ Thanks this.

i used to really like that All American in Doswell.

that was where i'd get my favorite breakfast of a 1 pound slice of ham, 3 eggs, hash browns, toast, coffee..

when i left that particular that would get me down there, i felt i lost a great place to eat.

i'd also stay at that onsite motel a time or two, to gain my hours.
