Came here for some peace and quiet after getting my mudflaps taken care of...

When you first pull up you might wonder if I'm out of my mind. It's a tiny 3 island fuel stop of i85 in Alabama, exit 70. Dirt parking lot and even looks a little dirty on the outside. I pulled in and wondered if I was out of my mind for leaving a perfectly good TA.

Im hooked. When you walk inside the place has a slight mom n pop feel to it (minus the subway); turn the corner and you've got a buffet. Doesn't sound special does it? You're right, it doesn't stand out. But it's worth a stop. Believe me.

Heres where you'll have to just stop and see for yourself...

Food is amazing at the buffet, trumps even the pilot off i75 in Florida I made a thread about earlier. It reminds me of my great grandmothers Sunday dinners...and boy does that bring back good memories.

The restrooms appeared to be relatively clean, but are definitely smaller than some of the places I've been to.

As as for what it looks like on the inside, well... It's a brightly lighted mom and pop store. I'll definitely be stopping here again. Just wished I'd found this place sooner.

I never could stand all that religious music in that place.

Eh, it was Christmas stuff. I grew up with it so it doesn't bother me. ...too much irritates me though, still it was a nice change from boom boom bang a girl rap next door at the pilot.

You learn to ignore it after a while...

dude if you think that pilot fresh food in florida was great, you need to get out more. there are great places like that all over that will outdo that heated up stuff the pilot has got. as long as the food is good I don't care if they baptize me. the food at the old torch at exit 42 aint bad either. the parking lot is rough but ya cant have everything. by ya one of those pocket truckstop directories and start stopping at the little places , you will be surprised.

    Vilhiem Thanks this.

I thought about stopping there, wanted to be able to travel less than an hour to my stop tomorrow. Means I'll be able to pick a load early and run it all the way.

Reason I liked the pilot was nothing was over salted. Most places I've been too add far too much salt. You aren't wrong though... I'm sure there are better places, I've got the little book but I haven't yet grabbed the book that has everything in it.

Bridges may be 3 islands, but 6 lanes. I take it you didn't fuel there. You'd like it if you're not partial to digital displays and credit card readers on the pumps.

It's a good little place, I had Thanksgiving Dinner there two years ago and that place was packed and the food was very good.

Hey, if SNI let me do that... Nothing wrong with the older tech in my opinion. The only difference between cash and card is that one doesn't leave a paper trail...

I absolutely had to stay for breakfast... Try the tomato gravy! Make you wanna smack yo momma...

They'll take card payments, the pumps are the old mechanical ones with the numbers on reels. If you need to fuel both tanks, you drag the long hose over your catwalk. Then make sure the hose isn't laying all out in the lane when you put it back.
