Last Thursday I arrived at the T/A in Baldwin, Fla. about 400PM and the lot was full. There were many spots available in their new Reserved parking area but they wouldn't allow anyone to park there. I explained that all I wanted to do was park long enough for dinner in the Countrypride and then I would be leaving but was denied and told that I would be towed if I did. Now this truck stop only has about 90 total parking spaces and they have taken away about 30 spots for paid reserved parking. Sounds like the old Idleaire days when you couldn't park in an empty spot. Then I was told that they have the permits and are expanding the main parking lot in the rear to total around 200 total spots but will then start with everyone has to pay for parking unless you make the necessary purchases. It seems like the days of free truck parking is about to come to an end. What ever happened to "Welcome drivers to your home away from home". Hell I might as well pay the wife to park in the driveway.

    To keep it simple, $$$.

It's like the truck stops that have ya pay or fuel if ya want to stay overnight.
Trucks are going to stop at those places regardless..

I suppose you're right. I still think they are out for the $$$ and don't care about us drivers. I'll continue to use the free parking stops myself.

Ever been to a truck stop where it looked or smelled like the drivers cared about the truck stop? I haven't.

I don't blame them. Most drivers' idea of a pretrip is to get on the CB and ask for a radio check as they dump their pee bottles out the driver window easing out of their parking spot.

If a truck stop can fill a demand for available spaces in an area where parking is scarce, what is wrong with them charging for it? It is your choice to actually park there. If you don't like it, find someplace else. If enough drivers do the same, they will either charge less or stop charging entirely. Economics 101.

Oh come on 'Five-O" ! Stop being practical and making good arguments! No room for common sense on this forum! :evil3: Problem is finding somewhere else to park these days.

I have been there too, all there saying is do business here, you can park here, if not park somewhere else. That's fair, it's their property!

Might work if there was enough available parking. Those that charge know you ain't got another good choice. To much traffic to ban together to make a difference. You choose to park there? They don't care if you do or don't. Hell there are a 100 trucks right behind you that will. Your lone dollar vote makes no difference. One thing thats known about drivers. If you don't like it 1000's other will defend it to death. Plenty drivers who have money to spare love reserved parking.
