I have a regular route to Livermore which is just East Of San Francisco off the I580. I can use I80 when weather permits through Nevada, or I40 and up I5.
I've never traveled across I80 in Nevada nor North on I5 through Cali. Any suggestion regarding the Mom & Pop truck stops?

if your going to Livermore from Barstow you would want to go across the 58 to Bakersfield to the 5
sitting in Lodi not too far away at this moment with a Stockton delivery in the morning
Hershey Ne exit 164 has a lil restaurant that isn't too bad
Cowboy restaurant exit 41 WY is good
as is Little America nice showers drivers lounge and take out is fresh cooked
the Sapp brothers restaurants along 80 arent bad
back in Brooklyn Ia the Kwik Trip is a good place
I am Green Bay to Stockton most weeksBlind Driver Thanks this. -

Interesting fact. Livermore California is home to the longest burning light bulb in the world. The bulb in their firehouse has been continuously going with only a few brief stops since 1901. No explanation of why or how but interesting none the less.

Well, there's plenty of places to stop/eat/bed down etc. Just off the top of my head, unless there's been changes recently, starting with Wendover, Nv. Wells Nv. Actually all the towns on I-80 Fernley, Sparks , Carlin, Winnemucca have Fly J/Pilot/Loves. Into Ca. on I-80, places to stop but not fuel/eat until you hit Sacramento. From Ca. sr 58 going north, I'd use SR 99 instead of I-5. Some Mom/Pops like Kleins in Fresno aren't bad. Forget Westly on 5 near 205.

other then the places listed above. nevada is kinda sparse.
there is one in lovelock. seems to get a few trucks. but apparently most of us haven't stopped in for a review of the place yet. exit 107 i think it is.
wendover has lots of parking and very nice showers from what i saw this past weekend. and cdl discounts at the rainbow casino. for food and what not. used to be 3 casinos but apparantly the other 2 aren't in the cdl business anymore.
the building is where the trucks park. directly across the street. with a sign that says truckers lounge. although, all i saw, were showers and some candy. -
Used to be a few places in Nevada that had ladies advertising on the CB for free truck parking, coffee and showers. Don't think they were Mom & Pop places though.

Once you hit the California border coming down Donner there are few places to stop other than a couple rest areas up on the hill. Exit 156 in Nyack is a little gas station and some truck parking. Fuel stop in Penryn but no parking is allowed although some guys do park out there. Further down is the 49er just west of I5. Going south on the 5 the next one would be Flying J in Lodi and Loves is going across the street. Another truck stop at the Charter Way exit Union 76 you do not want to stay there. On the way to Livermore on I205 is another truckstop in Tracy, pay to park. Coming into Livermore is a weigh station so you'll have to stop up on the Altamont and log a brake check. If you are looking for a place to stay in Livermore, right on Vasco near the Jack in the Box and Taco Bell sneak back down that little road and hide out in ond of those warehouses or go on down to Patterson Pass road and tuck in with the other trucks next to some warehouses. Just be prepared to move around daylight as the office workers start to come in.

It has been a while since I have traveled through that area, but the Alamo (now the Petro) in Reno used to have good food and plenty of parking. On I-15, there is a restaurant in Victorville across from the Pilot that had good food. The Pilot has a lot of parking at that location.
