Checked out Mikaska on I10 in Texas ... Decent, worth the stop. A little weak on the smoke. They use a simple salt and pepper rub and let the meat speak for itself.

Sauce isn't that big of deal to me, unless it's an especially great sauce. If the sauce is your thing, you may be a little disappointed. The sauce was more like a salad dressing than a sauce.

This past week I stopped at the Double Nickel Truck Stop in Hayti, Missouri (exit 19 of I 55), for a nuisance break. This is right next to the Pilot. I had a half rack of ribs and 2 sides and it was only $9.99. The food was good. You can also order the ribs in smaller portions if you just want a snack.

Found another BBQ place ... Papa Bucks EX 104 on the 16 between Savannah and Macon ... It's right next to a small independent T/S.

I got a meat sampler - brisket, pulled pork and spare ribs. The brisket was actually under cooked and little tough. Pulled pork was done well, good rub but a little weak on the smoke.

Ribs though. Some pretty fine ribs. I got spare ribs with the sampler, but they have baby back and St. Louis. Ribs were some of the best I've had ... the rub created a crust that had lots of flavor and a little crunch to it.

It's now on my list of places worth pulling off, just for some ribs.

Next to the QT on I-85 at Exit 90 in SC is a new little BBQ, stopped yesterday and grabbed a couple of sandwiches. A little pricy, but the sandwiches were pretty good sized too, I'll be back.

Exit 87 BBQ is a must stop for me. The other day I let those cute girls talk me into two jumbo sandwiches. ;)

Big Mama's, a trailer and a smoker in the parking lot of the Conoco, 62nd and Washington in Denver, can accommodate about 8 trucks, expect to fight the lunch time crowd, no seating, ribs, brisket, chicken, sausage, with beans, coleslaw or potato salad.

If you also enjoy REALLY GOOD banana pudding, I will also vote for the Soulman's exit 540, I-20, Texas. BBQ is not the best, but far from the worst and quite tolerable and plenty of easy parking although dusty, but the banana pudding makes it all worthwhile.

On highway 82 just west of I35 in Gainesville, Tx there are 2 places with truck parking that are pretty good.

Smokehouse BBQ and Dieter Brothers. They're right next to each other in Lindsay, Tx.
